It is fully compatible. The information in that email response is not correct.

As I already stated, the information in the support email is not correct. The Hybrid Kit (5598) is full compatible with the Founders Edition GTX 1080 Ti.

It is compatible. The instructions in my box walk you though that. that is model version "A". it is on the product site as compatible, as well. You can see youtube videos of people installing that model with this cooler.  i have the blower evga edition, they have the same pcb. the back plate different. In your case you use a different set of screws (all are included for both versions). I read though a lot before i made the purchase, and noticed folks were having issues with the instructions and fan hitting wires and shroud. If anything the reference is easier than evgs because the reference uses nice hex 4mm bolts rather than the ultra annoying 1 Philips which strip super easy.

I can assure you I had no issues. I have never installed water cooling before, and it was easy it took me an hour. the instructions are clear. The only feedback(s) i'd give evga is to have better tips in the instructions or put out a proper video, a little more hand holding would be nice. For example there is gpu paste that is easy to touch on the cold pate, holding the plastic guard on while you screw it in etc. More specific about pulling up on the shroud and all that there are a lot of screws in there and it is a bit hard to believe. I would also put a big number on each bag of screws so that when they are referring to#1 you see a giant#1 on the screws you are using. I had to do that manually. Also, there was one mistake in the instructions in my case i have the blower edition (model b evga) in there and they only indicated i need to remove the two screws in the io panel if i had model (a ) your model. I could clearly see that wasn't the case, but that was a bit annoying that won't impact you. Anyway, just read though the instructions before you start, and build a mental model of what screws you need; each version of the card needs about 5 flavors of screws. Number label them and have the tools ready and put the rest aside so you don't get confused. If you have a good strategy literally you are looking at an hour if you have a reasonable case and all that. Your biggest risk is being disorganized or going to fast and banging something with a screwdriver or something, there are a ton of little parts on the board you need to be careful. Also unplugging hte fan isn't the easiest thing in the world. I had to wiggle super slowly. Long term the thing i am most concerned about is possible leakage. I hadn't worked with water before, and the warranty is not only a year but the instructions indicated you should hang this thing over your computer components. Not sure how that will translate 5 years from now.  I assume you want this for the same reason i did the blower is just too darn loud. You'll be happy there, in terms of performance i am running at 30's in gaming (say witcher 3) in a high airflow case.  I was at 65 with ear bleeding noise. I don't believe in running my cards at 85. I was able to pick this up on Amazon for 100.
