Hello, I have a constant problem with my video card, in any game it will crash (in some before others) unless I lower the power limit to 90% and lower the clocks of both memory and CPU Core in 50mhz.

The error reported by the windows log is:
"Display driver nvlddmkm stopped responding and has successfully recovered."

But can run 3dMark Time Spy overclocked 50mhz and 100mhz GPU and memory respectively, even passed 3dmark stress test

I have tried the following solutions:
- DDU
- NVCleanstall - Switch to MSI mode
(
-Old Drivers
- Test each ram stick individually. (Here something peculiar happens, with 1 stick of 8gb it takes much longer to crash)

The only thing that has worked is to underclock

I would like to know if anyone has solved this?

My Config:
Ryzen 5 3600
EVGA GTX 1080TI SC BE
Asus X570-p
Patriot Black Out 4 x 8GB DDR4 @3600mhz
Corsair TX750
Corsair Carbide 600C

The 90% cause is your GPU is degrading. The 10% is your PSU. Benchmarks are designed to be stable with over clocks. Games are not and stress the GPU differently.
It is not impossible that a void has developed in the TIM over time and there's a hot spot on the die. Changing the thermal paste might help.
But again, if reducing clocks results in more stability, the most likely culprit is the GPU.

Sounds like time to start an RMA for the card if it's under warrantry..A GTX 1080 Ti SC Black (11G-P4-6393-KR) has a three-year warranty from the date of purchase.

* Corsair Obsidian 450D Mid-Tower - Airflow Edition * ASUS ROG Maximus X Hero (Wi-Fi AC) * Intel i7-8700K @ 5.0 GHz * 16GB G.SKILL Trident Z 4133MHz * Sabrent Rocket 1TB M.2 SSD * WD Black 500 GB HDD * Seasonic M12 II 750W * Corsair H115i Elite Capellix 280mm * EVGA GTX 760 SC * Win7 Home/Win10 Home *

Most likely the gpu is the issue. Test the card in another known good working pc to confirm.

Apparently this worked, I replaced the thermal paste with MX-4, and I've been playing for almost 6 hours without any problem, stable at 1936mhz and the temperature is very, very low.

Later I will continue with the tests, below a photo of how the original thermal paste was
