No, but the end is close... when its cheaper to purchase 8gig usb drive, then to ramp up burning to disks for game makers, and software makers. Disks are cheap, but burning them is time consuming and costly. its easier just to have it put on usb drives directly. and selling them in smaller packaging...as opposed to optical storage. Most just download... i do prefer to have some kind of physical media.
movies, games, and music still sale on dvd. i'm not bout to throw out all the movie, music, and games cd's, dvds... nor the equip that plays them i think the younger generation (my kids) would agree since they also play them in various formats, daily oddly, xbox and sony and even movie theaters's seem to agree (their $150k projectors, are dvd) disc aren't going to disappear easily

I haven't used a DVD drive in ages - infact the only time I actually use one is to install operating systems, and even then I just wire it up outside my case and remove it when I am done with it. Optical drives will never die but they're definitely less popular then they used to be.

The only thing I use disc for, is uploading burned cds of music into iTunes for my ipod and if im fortunate to have a disc to install a game, because its quicker! but movies and stuff i just stream

oddly, xbox and sony and even movie theaters's seem to agree (their $150k projectors, are dvd) disc aren't going to disappear easily That funny, everytime i go to the movies in my area... they have server rooms full of networked servers. Connected to projectors, with digital content on HDD's/SSD's. Im not saying that you should give up on disks, but there are alternatives... rip those old games to usb drives. Get the case you want without worrying if it has a slot for an optical drive. I like to have physical Blu-Ray movies... i can watch my movies whenever i want.. but really cant take them with me unless i stream or save it to whatever device im carrying at the time. And you know we cant always count on the consistency of our ips's. or the cloud. I use my dvd burner too from time to time, but increasingly less over the days. I will be getting this EVGA DG-87 case, without an optical drive... if i dont like it and need that drive...I will mod it. Good luck with your decision.

When I put together my last few systems I bought one of these: http://amzn.com/B00C2AMK2M and have never even taken it out of the box since buying it. I'd much rather use an external than have a full optical drive in my case - even if there was a slot.

miscbyproduct -snip- movies, games, and music still sale on dvd. Yes they are, but only to accommodate stubborn people who wont modernize. miscbyproducti'm not bout to throw out all the movie, music, and games cd's, dvds... nor the equip that plays them So buy a cheap diskdrive and rip all your optical media. Saves time, space, and headache. And correct me if im wrong, but gigabyte per dollar might actually be cheaper with a HDD, too. miscbyproducti think the younger generation (my kids) would agree since they also play them in various formats, daily lol no, just.. no. With steam and online shops on consoles and tablets/phones being more than capable, nobody born this century still wants to fiddle with easily scratchable plastic disks. miscbyproductoddly, xbox and sony and even movie theaters's seem to agree (their $150k projectors, are dvd) Cinema's dont use "DVD". Not unless they are using ancient equipment. Movies are, at the very least, delivered on an external harddrive these days. Most modern cinemas though, simply get it delivered over the net. The only ones still clinging to the plastic disk are two console giants. Nintendo is even thinking about going back to cartridges again. miscbyproductdisc aren't going to disappear easily I remember people saying that about VHS.. and Laserdisc, and CD-ROM.. and DVD.. Places like blockbuster are dying out for a reason. I myself haven't touched a single plastic disk in the past decade. Steam and netflix and various other sources have made short work of those. I even do OS installations with a 5 dollar thumbstick. :') Sorry for going off topic, but it bugs me that people cling to old outdated things. It inhibits progress to better things.

Ever since I built an HTPC, back in 2010, I have a large stack of unopened DVD-RW's But for me, the Optical bay was only for the Fan controller I have. Im just going to hope this fan hardware/software will do the trick for what I have....assuming, since we will be able to accommodate multiple Rad's in the case.

I literally threw out like 100 dual layer DVDs last week, along with a ton of bluray boxes. And about 7 old optical drives.. I still have an external slimdrive for complete utter emergencies, but I have everything stashed on a 8Tb array on my HTPC/server, just like you. They did try to accommodate by building a fan controller into the front, but its a bit basic. I was honestly hoping the 'deluxe' version would include some neat small little OLED display or something. But its still just a simple numeric LED like the cheaper version. I will be using the 7 fan and pump headers on my Asus Formula motherboard, so im good, fancontrol wise. If anything, Id love to see the metallic gunmetal case without all the fan control fluff. Luckily my job as an engraver will allow me to cut a sleek coverup plate for that bottom section. I might just jack that entire fan control part out, to mount a cheap Chinese little phone in there, running an app to display a whole range of useful system metrics and controls. But ill have to see some better inside shots first (hint hint, EVGA. ;))

I still have a lot of disks. 4 ssds, 1 Hd and 1 optical Blu-ray burner. Probably have to get anew external case for my Blu-ray drive. Gotta rip the good movies to plex. Also got tons of fans. Two giant Noctua 140mm fans on heatsink, 2 140mm bottom intake, 2 140mm front intake, 1 140mm back exhaust and 2 140mm top exhaust. Probably overkill, but solid airflow makes for a relatively silent system. All Noctua silent fans, although at max you can hear them quite well. Thinking about this case plus 1070 hybrid when it comes out. Maybe trade up to all on one watercooling for CPU at later date.

Youngest daughter's graduation present new build :) and I'm changing my work computer's case out, the Merlin SM8 is way overkill for a 2nd computer dedicated for work me thinks. This case is perfect for testing out video cards. I go through EVGA video cards so much I stopped registering them lol. By the way, is there any other companies out there that make video cards?

SR-X will fit, but you'll sacrifice the mounting point for the reservoir if you're watercooling.

Hi, Shipping costs vary tremendously across Europe. For the Netherlands we are confident we can get this down to around €20-25 max. Please assume this cost for the moment, and we will be updating our web site very soon. Markus
