but
still using usb 2.0 with only 2@ 3.0. & 1 @ 3.1
gonna end up having to buy a addon 3.0 controller for more ports
$200+, to the door.... not me.
You made me check my ports  . M/KB only 2.0 and only USB im using atm and I think they are in 3.0 slots.

No, none, optical drive bays are not in this case.. maybe time to ditch optical drives... i know i dont want to, but a lot of these newer cases do not support them. Would like to see an add on to the case that could be put behind the "front" door, for fan controllers/optical drives. Then i would feel it is more of a customized design. I will see once i get the case, what can be designed to add-in, then see what i can do to get those to people that want that.

Jacob, I hope you have been reading this thread... How will the preorder be implemented ? Will it be through a link on the DG-8 page showing the count down and models, or will it be through the product link, and where to buy link ? I just dont want to be spamming refresh on the wrong page..

No, but the end is close... when its cheaper to purchase 8gig usb drive, then to ramp up burning to disks for game makers, and software makers. Disks are cheap, but burning them is time consuming and costly. its easier just to have it put on usb drives directly. and selling them in smaller packaging...as opposed to optical storage. Most just download... i do prefer to have some kind of physical media.

I'm also wondering about a non window paneled dg-87. As much as I like the newer high airflow cases without optical drive bays, I hate the trend toward looking into cases. I want thick side panels, good airflow without obstructions. The airflow across my giant Noctua heatsink will be good, but I don't need to see inside my system.

Considering how 'deep' the case is, i was kinda hoping I could slip in two giant 420 radiators.
With a huge cooling capacity and 6 large slowturning fans it would be perfect.

Double 420 rads, plus optional double 120 rads, thats gonna keep everything quite happy.
I like the raised up reservoir bracket too. Lets you show it off nicely.
Whats going on with that HDD cage though guys?
I'd have to open the rear panel to get access to the drives?
With this behemoth weighing as much as it does (50lbs empty, apparently),
and that side usually being up against a wall, Is that really the best idea there is?
I hope those are reversible.. Would make a lot more sense cable management wise, IMHO.

That thing is engraved black-backlayer acrylic if im not mistaken (Engraving is kinda my job). At any rate it should come out, if its not just some random nameplate EVGA shoved in there in the first place. :P Ive seen it change from "EVGA GAMER CASE" to "EVGA DAWN" (??), and I doubt its gonna stay that way.

@Jacob, is there an unlimited amount of pre-orders? Can you tell us how many if there is a limited supply of them? Ill be glued to the screen for the minute it's available. I am also sorry to go off topic, but any chance you can tell me when the Z170 Classified will be back in stock? I am eager to build my rig and this board not being available is holding me back. Thanks for the extra sneak peaks! I am convinced now myself to pre order day one. Only question for me now is where the EVGA logo is on the inside of the window is that a piece of metal (steel/Aluminium) or is it plastic. If its metal "crossing fingers" I want to do some engraving on it to fit my theme I want with this case.
As long as your popular enough, you can get away with anything.

You actually do know that they have external burners and/or blu-ray players nowadays, right? I only have an external dvd-burner for whenever I need to burn something (doesn't happen a lot anymore). I am excited to see more and more cases without any optical bays. IMHO optical bays are ugly. I will remove the harddisk cases also if I purchase this EVGA case, as I don't have those either (only running M2 Samsung Pro). Anyways, I will not do a pre-order (even if it saves me money). I will wait for reviews first... I am looking to ditch my Phanteks Enthoo Primo or whatever that big ugly thing is called. Poor build quality. So, looking forwards in reading reviews on this EVGA case. It will be either EVGA or back to my previous choice, which is an In Win case...
