I wonder if the Titan stock cooler will be available for those who want to change from the ACX, or if anyone in the UK is selling their one let me know.

These are out of stock now I see..

Are there going to be more soon, or are they going to go the way of the Titan backplates?

Yes, US.

Anyone from EVGA that can officially comment on availability of more Titan ACX coolers?  Please?

I would sell you my unused ACX cooler still in plastic (bought 2 just in case lol)... but since I'm from Europe shipping would be very expensive ;)

Watercooling FTW!!!

Question: I have a sound card sitting directly below one of my Titans. It will block air flow to the first fan on this cooler, no doubt. Is it worth it considering installing this cooler with the sound card right there? Thanks.

I can't speak for EVGA but I think this would not be an issue especially if you augment the airflow by placing an extra fan on the side panel (if your PC case has this capability) or another fan inside the chassis aimed at the video card.

Thanks. I have a Corsair 900d, and I have added 4 120mm fans in the lower side panel of the case. There are 3 120mm intake fans on the front as well. The sound card is a Soundblaster Z, so it will block only one of the fans on this cooler. I am running a Maximus 6 extreme board with the Titans in slots 1 and 3, so there's one PCIe space between the 2 cards. You still have the same opinion? Thanks RJohnson.

Another question: I already have the backplate installed for my Titans. Looking at the installation instructions, should I reinstall the 4 old screws surrounding the GPU with the original PCB before removing the other screws? I have to remove many of the screws that are not supposed to be removed from the original PCB since I have the backplate installed. Thanks.

What's up with the crazy shipping costs to Canada? $49 + custom fees on delivery! I hope that includes a lap dance from the stripper who delivers the package.

Re:EVGA ACX Cooler for GTX TITAN 2013/09/29 03:45:31 (permalink)
well guys im done with that cooler. I will never ever touch any card with that cooler on it or buy it again and tell everyone the same.
I really love evga but that cooler is not worth it and im very angry now.

I had 3 acx coolers. every single one was a huge disappointment.

The first on an 780 classified. On a few % where every game force the card to come through (or older games who are not very graphic intensive hold that % +- a few what it made more scary) one of the 2 fans was screaming and scratching. -> back to the retailer and money back. Otherwise the noise was ok.

Now the acx cooler for titan. God if i would write what i feel atm i would get a ban :)

That cooler is NOT quieter than the stock cooler. The titan stock cooler starts to get audible when the temperature comes to the ~ 60-70 and is very quiet and pleasant in noise.

The acx cooler is from the beginning (30%) nearly as loud as my titan stock cooler when the temp target is set at 80. And its the same like the 780 i had. Few % the fans were screaming. Instantly removed the cooler and put back the stock.

Rma'd it. Just thought about it if i try the rma cooler or just sell it on ebay or something. then i decided to give it a try today. And what can i say? As bad as the old one. Screaming and scratching on different %.

I will not rma that cooler again. I will just throw him on the garbage with a huge amount of power and never look back. Dont care about 40€ and another rma process just to sell it on ebay to another guy who will have the same pain like me.

I cant understand how that thing could pass your quality assurance. The guys there must have earplugs and listen to music while they have tested the cooler.

Greetings but make a new revision of that cooler(or put an adapter to the package to plug the cooler into the mainboard and test him for noise. It sucks to remove everything from the card just to hear in the first 5 minutes that he makes scratching noises and built everything back. I have better things to do with my time).

Or just rename him to XAC. Xtreme annoying cooler. Thats the way i will call him now.

I installed the ACX cooler onto my Titan and used all of the screws that came with the backplate except for the four that go around the chip itself. It's a little trickier with the backplate. You need to install it before installing the ACX cooler itself.
btw:  I find the ACX cooler MUCH quieter than the stock cooler. It also dropped my OC temps by at least 10 degrees and I feel it looks way better.

I agree. I ended up using the spring screws for around the GPU that came with the cooler, but all other screws that came with the back plate. The quality of the cooler seems excellent to me, and my temps are also at least 10 degrees cooler as well. Thanks for your reply.

Thought I'd show some of the assemble.

Check out the HUGE heat pipes on the ACX cooler. Nothing like that on the stock.

Check out the stock thermal pads. Way too thick for my liking. The new cooler comes with much thinner thermal pads.

Titan with heat transfer plate installed.

Re:EVGA ACX Cooler for GTX TITAN 2013/09/30 23:07:44 (permalink)
Well, just installed both the backplate and the ACX cooler on my GTX 780 (I can confirm everything fits).

Used MX-4 as the thermal compound after cleaning the stock compound off via 91% alcohol, paper towel, and coffee filters (paper towels actually left less debris behind than coffee filters!).  Thermal paste application method:  Grain of rice-sized blob in center and then spread around with finger covered in plastic/clingwrap.

Stock cooler (blower) in 80f room while running Fur Test ("Furry E") for 10 minutes
GPU Temp:  81c
GPU Clock:  862 (throttling)
Fan Speed:  58% (stock fan profile)

ACX cooler in 80f room while running Fur Test ("Furry E") for 10 minutes
GPU Temp:  73-74c
GPU Clock:  927 (boosting)
Fan Speed:  38% (stock fan profile)

Seems pretty good. . . I guess?  Thoughts?

Re:EVGA ACX Cooler for GTX TITAN 2013/10/01 09:31:18 (permalink)
Quick addendum to the post immediately above.
I was getting a tremendous amount of shrill oscillation-like noise coming from the fan closest to the PCI-E power connectors with the fan anywhere above 40%.  I suspected one of the fans was bad.  Or that this was just the way it sounded since that fan was moving air into the free-standing heatsink portion that isn't over the GPU.  There was also, even with no fan speed boost, a weird also air-movement-based "trilling" sound coming from the computer even when I stopped the ACX fans by hand.

The culprit, in both cases:  My Antec Twelve Hundred's additional "wind tunnel" fan mounted on the middle drive bay right next to the ACX.  It was blowing a "cross breeze" directly across the ACX cooler and was therefore probably interrupting the smooth airflow over the heatsinks that the ACX was trying to produce.  The result was turbulence in the airflow and a lot of unfortunate, weird noise.
I removed that extraneous fan and things now sound much better.  Even at fan speeds at 70+%.

I found the cooler works quite well even with a sound card mounted just below one of the fans. Still keeps the temps about 10 degrees cooler:

Like ski-bum posted it comes with thermal grease already burnt onto the cooler there isn't a need to put another grease. And there instructions are outdated.

If this was in reply to my post. . . I became aware that there was thermal grease pre-applied to the cooler when I. . . (wait for it). . . saw the thermal grease pre-applied to the cooler.

However, a lot of us like to self-apply with (possibly) better thermal grease in order to make sure the layer is as thin as possible.  Necessary?  Probably not.  Worthwhile?  Perhaps.  Easy since you're already 90% of the way there when you remove the stock cooler?  Definitely.

I am using the ACX and loving it.  Also have a custom backplate that fits well.  25 Degree Idle, 59 Degree Load.

Probably from coldzeru.eu with a different logo.

Gaah I can't decide whether to buy this cooler or not. I don't like how some people say it makes the same or more noise than the reference cooler.
But at the same time do I have big problems accepting the green led's on the card. And it still look awful if I turn the led's off.
I'm also beginning to think whether Asus will make an aftermarket cooler as well, now that Gigabyte also made their windforce cooler available for the Titan.

whats different about the acx titan cooler and the acx 780 cooler? they share the same pcb and waterblocks fit both, shouldnt the acx cooler fit both?
