Just out of curiosity, does this do anything for a cpu fan that eventually speeds up to high when it doesn't need to? I'm not sure if the OS has any control of this or not, but ever since installing Win7 x64 my system will decide to turn the CPU cooling fan up to maximum after a while. What's odd is that at 40% speed it keeps my temps at 36c-40c, and at a higher speed it keeps them at 33c-37c, so it's not like the cpu is hot in either case...

I would recommend installing SpeedFan and adjusting the "Desired" and "Warning" temps, and setting the CPU fan to "Automatically Variated" under the Speeds tab, and checking "Automatic Fan Speed" on the main tab. Although SpeedFan can be a tad difficult to set up properly if you don't know what you're doing.

hmmm foul play here? kinda weird the P55 FTW comes out and evga releases a crappy bios revision.i believe Nvidia did the same thing with their drivers before the release of the gtx400 series.i heard of some cards getting fried.its almost as if their pushing us over the cliff in a sick discreet kind of way.i just finished posting a thread about my 750i FTW instability issues.i recently flashed to SZ1K bios when it came out.can anyone say from their experience which bios gives the best performance and overclocking ability. the " I " version seems to be popular.let me know or pm me.thanks

SZ1I proved to be much better for my overclock than the SZ1K. Other than that everything about it seemed the same though.

Thanks wcchamp18, that did the trick. Of course before I read your reply I tried the USB method without any luck. Had to reset the cmos. Well hopefully I don't regret this :-).

Ya that was no fun. Going back to SZ1I as I could overclock to 3.8GHZ. SZ1K did some weird stuff in the bios like it changed my locked 8x multiplier to 8.5x and then it wouldn't post. So I lowered my fsb until I could post but after checking CPUID I was really only using the 8x multiplier. It only changed to 8.5 when I loaded a saved bios setting. When I reset the cmos and re-did all my settings the bios showed an 8x multiplier but still wouldn't post with my SZ1I settings. Probably won't buy EVGA again.

Rob, Recommend starting a new thread with exactly what your experiencing. This BIOS thread is so old I doubt many visit it anymore and think it is just related to simply updating the BIOS. You would likely get much more support in a new thread and if not, contact EVGA directly. Their support is second to none and I say that from experience.
