Well I am not using a evga MB so updating evbot FW is impossible. The evbot can adjust VPLL and VDDQ of the other voltages of the 580 classified, but not the vcore, or VDD.
Wait..what? You need a eVGA MB in order to do a firmware update for the evBot? I am glad I did not order one cause i dont have a eVGA mb. As much as I love these cards, it seems like eVGA was not ready for prime time. Yes, the cards are good and they run nice, but they were designed to be OC..but there is no way to do that right now. It's like Ferrari selling you a new car with 12 cylinders, but after you "PAY" for it they tell you that only 6 of them are available until they finish working on the other 6.

Looking at the product page, the EVBot says it can be used on select mb's and graphic cards. It also is on sale for 49.99. Maybe someone from EVGA will chime in and let everyone know if a EVGA mb is required.

To update it, currently yes. We are trying to see if there is a way to update it VIA NVAPI, otherwise if you have an EVBot and need it updated, contact me at jacobf@evga.com, or if you are planning on buying one, also contact me.

Decided against my story. Long story short I now have no gfx card. Need to overnight something tomorrow... Jacob can you explain how the people with the evbot are going over the BIOS limit of 1.18? Or is there no real limit? Or can you only do that with the evbot?

Jacob- You and eVGA must understand the consumers point of view on this issue of no software being able to adjust the cards and now to here that you have to have a eVGA MB to update the evBot leaves one with no options...other than spend another $50.00 plus shipping and whatever is the fix. Some of us have spent alot of money on these cards, especially when you buy 1 or more. I really hope you guys/company have a way to take care of the consumer that spent the money with you guys. Although I want an evBot, I should not have to spend even more money to do something that card was designed for. I have 6 registered GPU's with eVGA over the last year including the 2 Classys. So it's not like I am a one time customer (this does not inlcude the 4 GPU's I had friends buy from you guys as well). At this point it is only fair that we are told when the software will come out, even a rough eta. If it is going to be a while, I think I might send my cards back because I only have 30 (28 days now) to decide if I want to keep them and if I have no way to see what they can do in my configuration, what is the point of having them when "other" brands have software that works when you buy the cards. Yes, I am upset, yes I am dissatisfied with the fact that we were not told any of this until "AFTER" most of us bought our cards. A "warning" message should be posted on the product page and at the etailers letting customers know that there is no way to adjust voltage without spending an additional $50.00 + tax and shipping. I know some may take my comments negatively, but if you just spent $1300.00 in GPU's and were not made aware of the inability to adjust voltages to do what these cards were meant to do you would also be upset. Lastly, if software is not in the near, near future, registred users of the Classy's should be given a substantial discount on the evBot. Misleading the consumer and not advising them that software that drives the cards for voltage changes is not available is very dishonest and is poor business practice. Again, I love the brand, I have never had an issue with any evga product and the customer service is top notch. Don't let this drive me to another brand of GPU.

Johnny_Utah I'm really impressed and excited that K|ngp|n and Tin are here to answer questions. A big thank you guys and to EVGA as well. I will be posting here when I get my Classys and put them under water. Hey np! Look forward to yours and others results. This card has renewed my interest in more mainstream type of overclocking with air and water from testing different samples here in the lab. On LN2 the card shines too, most cards are hitting around 1525-1575mhz with a few getting over 1600mhz so far. 1700mhz is what we would love to get in the end, not there just yet :). Really seems quite fun to play with since all the 580 reference cards I overclocked in past. bhk1004 Umm 1.29 to hit over 1000mhz? Umm... that's not good news for me... 950 at stock voltage limits? Why does it always seem worse and worse news for me... That's this particular card, most I tested can do around 950 in 3D11 and typical 1.12-1.15v that most guys use for daily rigs. I tested tons of nvidia reference 580's and for sure these cards are more robust for overclocking on all levels of cooling. Some NVIDIA gpu's run hotter than others. That's normal doesn't matter what brand of card or reference card you use. Those gpus dont need more voltage to scale in most cases tho. bhk1004 Like the guy above is saying this card very under performing on air vs the other top cards on air... I mean we only have 1 person so far with these. But the cards seem too voltage hungry for high clocks on air cooling. I may have to go back to the drawing boards with my card choice... This conclusion is based on 1 person so far with these? Compared to how many of the other top cards? :). I can't comment on other top cards because I don't use them. Like I said at typical 1.15v that most guys use thru software most cards clock nicely on air and run nice and cool for stable daily operation. I wouldn't recommend using over 1.2v for long durations, I'm just pushing the limits of this one particular card I tested in the lab for some 3d11 man :). This is an overclocking thread. I'm gonna push the limits. TBH, we were surprised and with the fact that it could run 1.3v+ on air and still stay relatively cool. You really don't want to know how high I went on some cards with voltage on air with good cool airflow aorund the stock cooler lol, really impressive what this card can do. I know for sure I would have zorched almost any reference card with same conditions and maybe other third party cards, who knows.

Baasha I don't know if others noticed but the screen with the Quad SLI run shows the memory at 1536MB meaning that 965MHz was hit with the 1.5GB cards and NOT the 3GB cards. Kingpin/Tin, what is the HIGHEST OC you guys were able to achieve with the 3GB GTX-580 Classified in Quad-SLI with AIR-COOLING? I would really like to see 1000MHz or more. And, these GPUs should be able to handle 90C easily so even if temps get to the 80s, it's not that big of a deal (even with 100% fan). Quad SLI was with mixed cards actually. 3 Are 3GB and one is 1.5GB. I used Coolbits reg tweak to make it work, also if your using mixed cards don't forget to put 3GB card in first slot or some apps will not load properly. Highest clocks I achieved in quad SLI 3D11 was about 986mhz core / 2420mhz mem. I've seen heat become an issue with 3Dmark 11 stability over 85c with NVIDIA gpus. I have some more screens I'll post after water stuff with Sr2 on Ln2 and cards on air at 980+ and you can see the loaded temps are much higher in quad hitting 75-80c at end of GT 2 (peak wattage). For sure I want 1K thru 11 on air. 1K in quad sli with stock coolers thru 3D11 is quite tough actually. Some guys are running other third party 580 cards in Quad SLI at 1050-1100 on LN2 max :) Lets give them a hard time eh? lol. Like I said before, I tested a ton of reference cards before and it was tough to find 4 gpus that could do that in "normal air operating environment" which means stock coolers without additional AC or massive CFM deltas all over the cards. Also quad sli on air running near 1k roughly 1.2v/1.69v is demanding on power, especially on SR-2 :). PSU usage needs to be considered at this point and upwards of quad SLi OC. BTW..Our stock cooler design is meant to remove more heat from case type environment as opposed to other designs with dual fans and copper heat pipes blowing directly on the card which we saw increased case temperatures in our lab testing.

Great work k|ngp|n. I'm locked into this thread to see what you can do with these on H2O. Will you use chilled water or just rad & fan with ambient air?.......or both? Valuable info for the community, thanks for being so involved. Thanks to TiN too for the informative posts.

Thanks Kingpin. In the other thread I posted my impressions of heat and fan speed while playing Witcher 2 all maxed out (except Uber sampling) and I am really impressed. This cards fan does not make much noise until you hit the mid 40's and up, but for me playing Witcher 2 for 1 1/2 hour my fans maxed out at 36%, max temp on top card was 66c with a custom fan profile. To me that is impressive. I could even get them to run lower heat by making the fan go to 40% when it hits 65c, but like I said at 40 and above is when you hear them and for me since I run a 5.1 surround system, even at 60% when gaming at my normal volume I can barely hear the cards (only happens when sound levels in the game get low). For now, I like it where it is at and may adjust a bit later. Will definately adjust once I am able to adjust voltage and hit my goal of 950mhz (and who knows how much more). I am just in it for gaming and need a good solid OC that wont make the fans hit 70% and heat go above 82-85c. I think based on peformance already that another 50mhz with a slight voltage tweak that I might top out at 72-75c while gaming and the fan hitting maybe 45-50% which would be damn impressive. If it is that low, maybe i will go for 960...or 975!!! lol Anyways, appreciate the kind words of encouragement kingpin, I do hope that software is very near as I would like to stretch the legs of these cards.

WoW. Same thing for me. I bet if you let Unigine run for about an hour it will also crash. But, you have the same exact issue I have at 900mhz. I can get about an hour in Unigine, maybe 1 run or 0 runs in 3dmark before it crashes. Setting to 890 I did 2 runs of 3d11 and no crashes. Just running one pass of each bench is not enough to ensure stability, however these programs (not sure about FF14) max the cards to 99%, while typical games do not. For example, I played Witcher 2 for about 2 hours and no issues, played Rift for about 1 1/2 hour no issues at 900mhz. My cards maxed out between the 2 games at 80% usage, max temp of about 66c. But for these benches, expecially for 3dmark11 I can at times maybe get 1 pass at 900mhz. Now my vanilla 580's I can easily do 2-3 hours of Unigine, 5-8 runs of 3dmark11 at the same voltage and mhz and have no issues. But, each card and revision to each card is different. Like I said at 890, I seem fine and for gaming at 900mhz I seem fine. But for me and it sounds like for you, I want a 24/7 OC that is stable for gaming and running these benchmark tests a few times. Main reason, is you never know when a game will use more (Witcher 2 uses 99% in Ubersampling Mode) and some of the newer games may tax the GPU's even more. Until we are able to voltage tweak we will not know for sure...but I was hoping that I could be 100% stable at 900mhz with the 1.100 voltage that I was with my vanilla 580's.

Hawk, Hmmm I didn't know you have to run these test a few times to check for stability, most i've run for 3DMark11 is three times at stock. I don't game much and only recently built this system for Swtor/Guildwar2/Diablo3 and to run them at Max settings. I only bought the 2 GTX 580 class because heck its only a few dollars more then the reg 580 3g, and imo looks nicer in my rig especially with the classified logo. I guess, things will be different once we can change the voltage.

Hmmm I didn't know you have to run these test a few times to check for stability, most i've run for 3DMark11 is three times at stock.
Yes, you do have to run the benchmark tests a for a while to ensure stability of the overclock. Our professional OC'rs in this thread also stated to do the same. I know that there are 2 school of thoughts on testing an overclock: 1.) Run test benches that check for artifacts and multiple runs to ensure stability, typically 5-8 runs of 3d11, 6 or so runs of Unigine etc. Running in-game benchmarks etc. This will also tell you what your max heat if you have an app running that is checking for heat which you should. 2) Gamers! Gamers that built a rig to game and overclock only care if the OC is stable to play games. For many gamers, the best way to test your overclock it to actually play games and see if it is stable. If the main reason for the rig is gaming, then some feel this is the best way to test, which is makeing it do what the OC is intended for and that is gaming. The games you listed I doubt will max out your GPU's at 99%, which the benchmarks will do to test for stability. As I mentioned earlier, for me, even though I only game on my rig and nothiing else, I would rather use the professional benchmark tests to ensure it is stable because you never know when a game may jump up to 99% usage (an intensive scene/battle etc.). I know some my games do have spikes in GPU usage, so I rather be more on the safe side and ensure stability through Unigine/3d11.

Thank you for posting this K|ngp|n. Will be a great help when I get my 580 Classy in for reference points, as I really want to try and get a mid-900s Core Clock stable for gaming purposes since I'll be using one of these to "hold me over" til Kepler comes out.

What do you think? The newest card and it's limited. Nope!!! Your three cards are more than enough for anything you throw at it!

dhruvdas2000 no step up program to upgrade to these guys from GTX 580 hydro coppers..huh? The real question is why?, why would you want to upgrade to these cards, at most you'd maybe get 25-50mhz more on the core, given you get the same quality of cards you got now, and you give in 100watts more power.

Overclocker Been directed to this thread.. Asus and Gigabyte both advertised that their (I can say) specially designed cards for overclocking (580 Matrix Platinum , Gtx580 SOC) are binned with a better core to carry the ability to overclock better, produce less heat and perform better than vanilla 580s. So, just a point of interest, seeing that the new Evga Gtx580 Classified has just been released, are they specially binned like how Asus and Gigabyte did to improve overclocking? I mean, since its made for extreme overclockers, surely more has been done apart from slapping on a much better VRM and other features? The reason I am asking this, is because me myself owe 3 Gtx580 FTW HC2 (1.5GB) from Evga. I am only able to bench at around 930-940mhz @ 1.15v(thats the max Afterburner can increase right?), 950mhz will make Vantage crash. I understand that I shouldn't be expecting a big overclock (say 1Ghz), but I highly doubt that the chips on the HC2 were binned in the first place due to that fact that they were quite voltage hungry and in fact, sometimes, I get a better score with 920mhz. I hope Jacob or maybe Kingpin or TiN can give me an answer so that I actually have a proper reason to make an upgrade. I am a keen overclocker and am willing to get the Classys for a higher clock in a SLI rig. I'll post my rig if anyone is interested CHEERS!! It was mentioned in the past (can't remember who said it) that the Classified gpu's are not binned, which is exactly why you're going to see some people get high oc's while others can't. If this is incorrect, I would hope that someone from EVGA would comment about it, but it is my understanding that what you're buying with the Classified card is all the upgraded components, other than the gpu. In the end, you can have the greatest pcb components available but if you have bad luck, and get a bum gpu, then you'll never see the advantage of those other upgraded components. In my opinion, if *I* were looking for a non-reference 580 "super card", I think I'd be leaning toward the Asus 580 Matrix Platinum. Asus has been VERY open about how they are binning chips specifically for that card. This is very hard for me to say because I've been a die hard EVGA fan for quite some time now. I just find the most recent "Classified" releases to be underwhelming to say the least. The one area that EVGA still beats them on is the vram. I think the Classified 580 is the only variant that offers 3GB's of vram.

If this is the case then I'd disappointed too, the zotac's I have are also binned, and I got 2 of them for $860, the fact that they can clock up to 950/4300 @ 1.15v (atleast for 3d mark 11 and vantage) and a $700 hc2 cant kind of sucks. If evga starts binning their cards, that would be awesome, but I wonder, why aren't they doing it already.

EVGA_JacobF To update it, currently yes. We are trying to see if there is a way to update it VIA NVAPI, otherwise if you have an EVBot and need it updated, contact me at , or if you are planning on buying one, also contact me. Hey Jacob, I have exactly the same Problem. Dont own a Classified Mobo anymore but just tried to use the EVBot on my new GTX580 Classified. It displays the Voltage but when I try to change the Voltage it says "FAIL". So I think I need to update the EVBot first.... Just tested the card quickly and these settings are stable for me: 1150mV GPU (Stock Voltage) GPU: 950MHz RAM: 1190MHz
