EVGA, Jacob, anybody! We all saw that awesome 3080 FTW3 Ultra XOC beta VBIOS with a 450 watt limit, bringing power up to the 3090 FTW3 Ultra level.
How about some love for your 3090 FTW3 Ultra owners? 480? 500? Something more that competes with the 3090 Strix OC?

We'll probably see something around the time KPE or Hybrids drop, though it wouldn't surprise me to see something earlier with the way things have been going.

Funny thing is the xoc vbios released isn’t really xoc as all it does is increase the power limit a bit. A true xoc vbios disables the vf curve and sets the power limit to 2000w. 😁

they couldnt release that because thats really for ln2, 450w is the best we will officially get from evga, they dont want people on air or water to install like 900w bios and try to run it with power and voltage maxed out

Yes, yes. I only used XOC because that's what Jacob went with for the 3080 FTW3 Ultra beta VBIOS. I plan on getting this under an AiO watercooler, so more power to play around with would definitely be welcome - even if we aren't talking about a fully unlocked VBIOS.

Soooo those of us who bought the 3090's get pushed to the back burner? Wow. I've been back on Asus after a poor experience and this was my first EVGA buy in many years. Posted this in the 3080 thread first and was met with some hostility so I'll try here.
Very disappointed here knowing I spent 1800 dollars and nvidia doesn't seem to care I can't even run my G9 Odyssey at 240hz when 2000 series could, EVGA doesn't seem to care that the strix is likely going to beat it, and we get thanked for our money by 3080 users getting their updated bios first.
There is NO reason why there shouldn't be.
We literally spent an extra stupid expensive premium that's really not THAT much better than the 3080 for gaming and those extra FPS. (advertised as gaming GPU mind you) This is bull and while I love the card, I was truly hoping they'd surprise us with something like some unlocked power that makes the 3090 dwarf the 3080 and inevitable 3080 20gb /ti.
I'm coming from a "last chance nVidia" standpoint anyways. If AMD ever doesn't suck, I'd switch in a second if they pull a TITAN X, 1080ti, TITAN, XP scheme again. Worth noting I've been a nvidia fan boy since the MX440 64mb AGP card. Only had one Radeon and it didn't last long (hd4870)

The 3090 might be more ticklish to hit higher power levels than the 3080. I’m fine with EVGA releasing the BIOS for the 3080 before the 3090. The 3080 was released before the 3090 and has been selling in larger numbers. It makes complete sense to work on the 3080 first.

The 3080 came out a week before, So its fair to wait a week for a 3090 bios. The 3090 XC3 guys are the ones really shafted tho. The high end 370-400W 3080s traded blows with it and now 450W on a 3080 makes it faster then the 350/366W on the 3090 XC3.

Your forgetting 2 things 1 the 3080 was out sooner 2 the 380 should have a 420 limit but it was only 400 so they made a error in this. While the 3090 they did state it would be 440 and you got 450. See so it's more then logical to give prio to the card that wasn't delivered whit the powerlimit as they did say. And no one is pushing you to buy a 3090 over a 3080 is there ;)

Don’t mind him, all he does is complain, he cluttered the 3080 thread with these. And nobody met him with “hostility” we just told him what he is, an entitled brat. We told him that Jacob literally said in Twitter they’re testing the bios and should have news within a week, but he replied “he doesn’t have time to read” 🙄 At this point, with a 4 post history since 2013, I’m more inclined to believe he’s just trolling.

They're not obligated to increase the power limits of their cards. Even if they match the Strix at 480w at most you might see a 1 fps difference on air. If they do great, but it's not something you should expect. I also own a 3090 FTW3 and while I'm admittedly disappointed that we weren't the first to get it it's not something I'm mad about. If I cared only about power limits I would have waited for the kingpin and still might get one for my other build. Also it's worth noting that it's been less than a month since release. It sucks that the G9 isn't working on Ampere at 240hz but there are always issues at launch. Just be patient. It's not like AMD hasn't been notorious for terrible drivers that took months and months for them to address.
