Please see below for the latest firmware update which allows for quieter fan operation. After this update is applied to the card it does not need to be updated again even if moved to another PC: https://www.evga.com/EVGA/GeneralDownloading.aspx?file=EVGA_Precision_X1_1.1.0.1.exe - Install this version of EVGA Precision X1
- It will prompt to update the firmware
- After firmware update, reboot PC

With the topic being "Quiet Fan Firmware Update" does it do anything else? Some people might not notice the fan so if the only fix is to make it run with less noise then it might be a moot point. Of course I can't see why anyone wouldn't upgrade even if they don't really notice the difference.

I think it's to fix coil whine from the fans, though I do wonder how they did it, lower the max speed of the fan, or do something with the fans voltage or whatever?

Seems like older cards had older firmware?
Installed and verified the fix, no high-pitched tone and the fan noise is generally quieter. This was addressed super fast and on a weekend, great job! Thanks guys.

Jacob ! Gamer Nexus said you guys supplied and updated Steve's FTW3 Ultra with a better and "more POWER" bios.. Are you guys updating all other FTW3 stock right now ? Or you already shipped them out to retailers in Canada with the original LOW POWER bios, and you will provide us with the HIGH POWER bios later on ????????? I have already pre-ordered the FTW3 Ultra from a Canadian retailer so I am curious. Thaanks !

This unfortunately did not fix the middle fan having a high pitched whine/rattle at high RPM. The other two fans at that speed are not loud. Is there a way to verify the firmware updated correctly?
