Do you often see drops on Mondays? My time is nigh! lol

It was almost perfect timing too. My birthday was just over a week ago! :)

I can't miss this. I checked and I do have notify set, but I won't be just relying on that.

Thanks,

Is adorama.com trustworthy?

Yes, they're a major company in camera equipment. I've used them and so have a TON of other people. I can't speak to their customer service because I've never needed it, but they are definitely legit!

Re: EVGA Queue Summary 2021/10/04 10:09:10 (permalink)
Big update to the queue system today per EVGA_JacobF:

In an effort to expedite those in queue who are still waiting for a EVGA GeForce RTX 30 Series Card, and to be fair to all EVGA customers, EVGA is making a change to how they service the queues:
  1. EVGA accounts that have NOT purchased an EVGA 30 series card yet as part of the queue will be prioritized ahead of accounts that have already purchased a 30 series card through the queue.
  2. Accounts that have already purchased an EVGA 30 series card in the queue system, will be behind those who have not.
Notes: B-Stock (RX) or Step-Up 30 Series products will not affect queue positions.

EVGA’s purpose for this change is to accelerate the total number of gamers that have received at least one EVGA GeForce RTX 30 series card through the queue.

Large sized OOF from me on that one, I would have not purchased an intermediate card if I knew it would de-rate me for the card I actually want.  I think the rules sound good, but the problem isn't being caused by the little guys waiting for a handful of cards.

Yep EVGA just screwed people that have been waiting a 1 year or more for a 3080 if they happened to get a queue pop for a 3060 to hold them over LOL. No matter what they do it won't make every happy.

Guess that also makes the timestamp irrelevant so now no one will have any idea how close they are to a card.

This is a crock of crap,  I used one of my queues to provide a family member with a card.  Since I couldn't afford it at the time and needed to save I let my queue go to them instead of releasing it like the first one and not knowing if it would go to a gamer or scalper.   Now a year later of waiting i'm going to get moved to the back..... yeah I bet i stop buying evga products.

Re: EVGA Queue Summary 2021/10/04 10:23:31 (permalink)
As I read the announcement, self-reported lists of registrants (like that commercial site that was started awhile back) will still have value for folks who have not yet received a card through the queue system. However, those that have previously received a card through the queue system will now appear to be "skipped" in deference to those with later timestamps for that SKU that have not yet purchased a 30 series through the queue. It is a similar issue for timelines (like the daily summary I post) -- it is TBD whether the value to readers of continuing to publish the daily summary will outweigh the confusion caused by the previous-queue purchasers being passed over for later timestamps....

Please let me know if you think my continued efforts on the summary is causing the community more confusion than utility....

So I wonder if this new change affects ALL people who have registered a 30 series card on the site or only people who received a card through the auto-notify queue.

So for example, I bought a 3070ftw3 from outside the queue and registered it. The queue, as we understood it, is approaching my ticket in the next drop or two for a 3070ti ftw3. Will I be skipped? Will it ever come back to me or am I done for good?

enewt, just curious... is it even possible for you to continue tracking queues accurately with different sets of times for each sku ?

Wow just wow! Hugely bad move on EVGA's part here. 2 of my spots went to others that have been searching for months while I have 2 personal computers that were waiting on cards and only one of those has it's replacement.

Frankly if this is what is being done now people need to have an official way to check their queue position now. That way we have actual knowledge of where we are at.

Also I already didn't feel "Elite" as a member since it began now my Elite status and being able to queue in early is going to yield nothing at all. 36 minutes out on the only other queued card I intend to purchase for my game rig 3080 TI FTW HC. Yea thanks!

But really, in the end I think this is a net good change but a crappy change to impose mid generation. This is the kind of rule you want to impose upfront, like for the 40 series.

It affects folks who have purchased through the queue process.  If you registered a 30 series card purchased elsewhere, you should not be impacted.

I will keep going with the daily summary for the moment, but I will only be tracking the "first time queue buyer" times...as there will not be any successful "multiple purchaser timestamps" in the near term. I also expect the number of reported successful timestamps to drop considerably, so the summary will be less accurate over time...still digesting this news in between work calls.

Re: EVGA Queue Summary 2021/10/04 10:54:24 (permalink)

So EVGA's own poll had a 64% of people voting to leave the queue 'as is'  - but they decided to change it to quite possibly the worst selection of all.?
No matter if you are elite , nor longtime member, nor if you got up early to get an early spot in the queue -- anyone who just showed up whenever now gets to step in front of you  ?

This has no bearing on me whatsoever at this point- but that doesn't mean I won't say something about it because it's a terrible decision , not even based on what your own active userbase voted for ..

I'm going to register a new account. Whenever they reopen the queue, I'll use my new account and that ensures my new account's queue spot ahead of everyone who still using their old accounts. Am I correct?

Will only be ahead if you are the first to register through the auto-notify button when they get relit.  When you create your account actually doesn't matter...as you can register via an email address (when the button is lit) regardless of whether you have an EVGA account tied to that email address.

I am planning to queue for KINGPIN HC with new account when they reopen it. That one is elite exclusive, if I'm right.

I'm going to register a new account. Whenever they reopen the queue, I'll use my new account and that ensures my new account's queue spot ahead of everyone who still using their old accounts. Am I correct?

What are you trying to do? Circumvent the fact you purchased a card already? I'm quite sure they will be checking past purchases via address otherwise this change really has no bearing as everyone will do just what you mentioned. They will have an influx of new Elite members along with the forums being spammed yet again with completely useless comments so people can get Elite status on new accounts.

Also with this change I doubt when EVGA opens the queue back up for cards they are going to move new signups straight to the front of the line. They are probably still going to work through what they have until they open the queue again. Otherwise this is an even worse idea for them to do.

Re: EVGA Queue Summary 2021/10/04 11:13:51 (permalink)
I'm in the same position as many others. Used a couple of my queues that did hit to pass to people in need. I've been waiting for the Hybrid and now I may not get a chance to purchase my preferred gpu with my best queue time since it has been processed the slowest by EVGA. I'm about 1m20s away from the 3968 and now with this change who knows. A lot of us woke up early and dealt with website crashes to get in different queues and now those that decided to jump in late will be rewarded instead.
There should be some kind of balance between the queue times and those that haven't purchased anything yet. Maybe a 50/50 split. One for the better queue time then one for someone with a worse time but that hasn't purchased yet.
Or it really should be implemented based off today not the past. Purchase a card now and get bumped to the back of the line. Don't bump people to the back now due to previous purchases.

Please don't spam post in the 30 series threads.  Please limit yourself to threads like these (designed for the nefarious purpose):

Re: EVGA Queue Summary 2021/10/04 11:15:50 (permalink)
I think continuing to track is going to still be appreciated and worthwhile. While people may be getting skipped due to this new system, for those of us who have only been queued for a single SKU, or have not purchased a card yet, we can still get an idea of where the waiting list is at. This is with just the current format. Because I imagine that since the queue got closed a couple weeks ago and now this change, the last of the “first time buyers” will probably get their queues in a few months at this rate.

Even if there are less sample sizes, it will still show progress. I think we just collectively cross our fingers and hope that as demand evens out with supply, the queue won’t even be a thing of concern by that time.

Once the queued date gets close to the day the notice is received, people who queued in the past (if still interested) can try to continue to track at that point? Like a database reset.

Just worth a try. Thank you for reminding me they might check past purchases via address/credit card. I'll use my wife's card and my friend's address when using my new account. Of course if they decided to fulfill the queue before reopen it, all these effort would be in vain. But I just do not want to lose a chance that they might actually reopen the queue before fulfill the current entries.

It affects folks who have purchased through the queue process.  If you registered a 30 series card purchased elsewhere, you should not be impacted.

enewt, just curious... is it even possible for you to continue tracking queues accurately with different sets of times for each sku ?

I will keep going with the daily summary for the moment, but I will only be tracking the "first time queue buyer" times...as there will not be any successful "multiple purchaser timestamps" in the near term. I also expect the number of reported successful timestamps to drop considerably, so the summary will be less accurate over time...still digesting this news in between work calls.

You can high light those rows who are not first time queue buyer. Since you have all history purchase data, you can do a look up among the history and high light duplicates I suppose.

Yep EVGA just screwed people that have been waiting a 1 year or more for a 3080 if they happened to get a queue pop for a 3060 to hold them over LOL.

This is exactly the situation I'm in. Signed up for the 3080 queues at 9am on 10/7, never signed up for anything else because I'm patient and didn't want to clog up the queues for other people. Then my old card died last spring, so I jumped onto all the other queues and got a 3060 several months later.

Overall this policy is probably good, but it really should be more along the lines of "can't buy a slower card or a card that is only one tier faster than the one you've already gotten".

It doesn't quite work that way.

One thing we could do is when people report, ask them whether this is their first purchase from the 30 series queue (but it is just one more variable that creates opportunity for reporting errors).  For the next X months, that will inevitably be the case, but for some queues...maybe the 3657 queue will be first...there will come a time when we rewind in history and the queue starts servicing late April registrations for that sku...I would think perhaps by December.

One other thought: we will start to see the queue timelines MOOOOOVE. I expect we will be measuring the timeline movements in hours and days, not seconds and minutes. Should be an interesting couple of months....

I think we do not need to ask them if this is their first purchase from the 30 series queue, at least for the next few months, the reports will be first purchase only because they are prioritized. And when the rewind happens, you'll notice because the report timestamp will suddenly fall back several month. (Assuming they are not going to reopen the queue before fulfill all current registrations)
