It's been a long day, but it still feels like it is only half over. My work calls will stretch into the evening a bit and it will be tough to watch the Steam notices pop up as my brothers and friends jump into Valheim or World of Warships together...FOMO will be a significant drag on my spirits. I hope y'all are getting some time away from work and are able to be present with your family and friends, whether that is online, on a call, or an arm's length away.  
 
Update (5:55 pm PT): Here is an update from EVGA re the turning off of 30 series “auto-notify” buttons:
 
“Due to high demand, the notify queue sign-up is temporarily disabled. If you have a current queue position, EVGA will continue to process as stock is available.”
 
I don’t yet have more information other than they are continuing to process “invite to purchase” emails for those folks already in the queues.

i sure hope someone explains what is going to happen....

I asked the question and the response I got back was (paraphrasing): we are focusing on serving the current registrants.
 
I agree that it is big...on work calls right now, so just dropped the update as soon as I got word of it...my perspective is that this is tacit recognition that EVGA need to prepare for whatever comes next. They will not want a huge outstanding queue remaining when whatever that next thing is...gets announced. And it will likely take upwards of a year plus to clear what they can of the outstanding queues...(truthfully, who knows).

Update from me: It's September 28'th 2021 and I still haven't received a notification to buy the RTX 3080 Ti yet. I put in my EVGA Elite notification status on launch day and still nothing. I've pretty much given up a long time ago by now. It looks like I'll be using my EVGA 1080 Ti SC Black Edition for at least another year. I can't afford any of the newer cards at scalper market rate so if I don't get notification from EVGA through this program to buy it at their prices then I'm never upgrading. I love EVGA but the whole elite system is a complete scam.

Chill man. You should get your notify soon, 3080 Tis queue is moving. I would say if you`re around 1h away you should get it this year.

Just a quick follow-up to the news from last night: that EVGA has suspended new registrations to the queues. 
 
I don't think this development is a reaction to further tightening of supply, but rather a recognition by EVGA that the queue, being in its second year of operation, is likely closer to the midway point of the 30 Series being the frontline gpu family than it is to the start of its era. Despite the administrative burden of executing the queue system, it has worked and it has generated -- on balance -- tremendous additional consumer goodwill for the EVGA brand...goodwill that could be dashed should the queue, at the end of the 30 series run, remain packed with registrants who may never receive their desired card. As we have seen with the Hybrids and the Hydro Coppers, EVGA can easily restart a queue should they work through the current universe of registrants. 
 
That is all a very long winded (for an amphibian) way of saying: if you are already in the queues, yesterday's news is unlikely to materially affect you; and, if you weren't already in the queues, then Best Buy, Microcenter, and eBay remain your best bet for lightening your wallet.  
 
I heard a rumor -- just a rumor -- that EVGA_JacobF was seen auditing an art class at his local Orange Coast College...hopefully that will bring good tidings to us, on this Titanic of Tuesdays. EVGAJF (pronounced "Ev-Ga-Jaf", for those youthful amphibians in the know) has also tweeted this morning that his minions should download the latest drivers for the early access (October 6-7) for the Battlefield 2042 Open Beta (that runs October 8-9). Plan accordingly.

Just want to reiterate some of what's already been posted here.  We're just suspending the ability to enter the queue for the moment.  This pause is temporary and we'll have more information on availability to enter in the future, but no ETA now.  Keep in mind that we've done this for various part numbers at different times, and we've also done this on non-VGA products to let their respective queues stabilize a bit with availability.  At this time, we don't plan to make any changes to the queue structure, but it's always possible that we might down the road.
 
If you're already in the queue, great, nothing will change for you as we're still processing notifies on a daily basis.  Step-Up is also still open at this time.  If you were not able to enter the queue or you have already reached our 1 part number per household limit, then you can still try to purchase a card at one of our authorized resellers. 
 
As it is, don't look too hard into this for further meaning or any broad, global trends and/or what it means for the market going forward. 

Once again, Lee bringing sanity back to the conversation (and spoiling the fun of our wild speculation).  Thanks for providing some context to the news.
