Got one of these cards, and seems really nice in looks, but I questioned its performance. But I heard
theirs a switch just left of power cable headers. What does it really do? is it dual bios, and does it unlock
more speed? Reason I am curious is. I have a Dark 299 and 7820x cpu at 4700 mhz. and I notice in evga
precision power limit seems to get only to 88% use. butg clocks are fine around 2100 gpu and 7000 mem.

Is the position of the switch to the left holding back more power to this card? I even have power slider in X1 to 30
and can't finish 3d mark demos

Yeah, that's the Dual BIOS switch..The OC/Secondary/Performance BIOS has an increased Power Target for more overclocking potential and a more aggressive fan curve and the fans won't stop during low-temperature operation..But you can still override the fans with EVGA Precision X1 to create your own custom fan curves or use the predefined curves.

To change the BIOS slide the switch and restart your PC..It should say on the backplate which position is which..But to the left (toward back of card) is the Normal (non-OC) position.

From looking at the evga 2070 logo and power connectors right of switch, its default is in left mode, do I switch to right for more
power? or is default the oc mode select?

It should be labeled in white letters on the top or bottom of the PCB which position is normal and which is OC

I found it and selected oc, then restarted pc, now COD MW doesn't crash, and I can move slider to 130% in Precision X1. but
seems FPS still shows about the same in games I keep track of in benchmarks. What does this switch do for adjusting sliders
    in X1?

You'll notice very little difference in fps just from switching bios, probably only 3-5 I imagine

Yeah, I noticed that. So what control in Precision X1 does moving this switch do? cuz 3dmark still fails testing, but COD
    works fine now.

Switching to OC just raises the power limit slider and the fan curve is all I believe

As far as 3d mark don't do any CPU, memory or GPU OC and see if it runs if it does then you'll know it's an OC setting.

So the card only crashes in 3dmark on the oc vbios with the slider all the way to the right? You don't crash in 3dmark when using the normal vbios with the power limit slider set to max?

It crashed in both switches. even with defaults in X1, it won't pass the time spy one.
Maybe its a windows issue, not sure. it was fine with port roayal.

Try running the benchmark with all of your hardware at default clocks.

Actually im not ocing atm, cuz of Call Of Duty, but it runs great now and shows power limit between 80 and 100% which I assume
GPU is getting its full power. When I was on GTX 1070's in SLI, I seen this too on some 1080P runs, but 4k
    runs seem to pass.

Is their some special voltage or setting in UEFI in EVGA Dark 299 I am missing?

You're not even overclocking your cpu at the moment? Yes, an unstable cpu oc could be causing you not to pass time spy.

I moved back to OCing CPU, cuz I decided to troubleshoot and leave cpu to auto , and no crashes in games, but
3dmark demos still seem to fail on some runs.

Where exactly does it crash in the benchmark? What is the make/model/age of your power supply? Does underclocking the card to max negative values on the core & memory inside msi afterburner help stop the crashes?

In Time Spy it passes the first video, but 2nd one, it shows 0 pass. the bar shows blue below, than red in middle. and using
RM1000 PS and was at default cpu speed with intel boost to 4000 mhz. And I use Precision X1 with defaults and card bios slider
    to OC now.

It used to be higher performance with the switch but for now, they changed it so only the fan curve is more aggressive unless they changed it with SUPERs but haven't heard anything.

There other who have mentioned about the crashes in 3dmark. I do run the card I have now with a 130
power target and 100 vcore and a 705 mem, and seems good, but when I move slider for GPU, COD MW
gives me a dev6068 error in game and crashes.

Could be the game doesn't like that OC or the game is unstable as its been known.

Beginning to think that myself too. Some claim its an overlay issue, and dx12 issue too. just to weird that im not really  pushing my gear much.

Seems to be the issue with game is dx raytracing, turned it off, and game doesn't crash even with oc in precision x1.
card runs damn good now, but strange that I doesn't get hotter then the 50s in Celcius.

Glad it all worked out but hopefully future CoD MW and Nvidia updates remedy those issues.

Dude CoD is just a mess!!!!
I have random crashes and DirectX errors since day one. Running stock or running OC i will allways have crashes!!!
I play a lot of different games and CoD is the only one crashing...

Maybe something wrong with your card? I can go through TimeSpy with +135 clock and +1350 memory (games don´t like it after a couple of hours so now I'm running +120 clock and +1200 memory) with slider on the left and temps at 61ºC. I can´t go higher because I reach TDP limit.

    Case: Corsair 570X Crystal Red
MOBO: Asus ROG Maximus XI Hero (wi-fi)
    CPU: Intel i7 9700k (stock)
RAM: Corsair Vengeance LPX DDR4 3200MHz 16GB (XMP I enabled)
GPU: EVGA RTX 2070 FTW3 Ultra (OC)
Storage: Samsung 970 Evo Plus M.2 NVMe 1TB (sys disk) and Samsung 860 Evo Plus SSD 500GB
Cooling: Case - 3 Corsair SP120 front intake; 2 Corsair ML120 Pro up intake and 1 Corsair ML120 Pro rear exhaust. Cpu - be quiet! Dark Rock Pro 4
