huse-shah Congrats to all who won! but with no offence, I couldnt understand the judging... for ShadowPlay there are videos which are verrryyy basic and they won, and there were quite good videos who lost, cmn what was the criteria?? I didnt take place in Commercial but wth is that? There is a video uploaded the latest, I was sure that guy will won, the video is really cool but they didnt give him any of the prizes, cmn u just robbed him considering some of the videos that won. Alright... again Congrats to all who won! Also to Helgaiden :) Cheers man!
Also, I would like to say congrats to the winners, but I also do not understand the judging. For instance, how can the same person/people win multiple times? Shouldn't that have been part of the rules. Also, another thing I did not understand was how videos won that were uploaded prior to the event being launched. Maybe I am biased, and it has clouded my thoughts, but some of the videos seem so common, that I doubt even the winners would have chosen them after seeing some of the uploads. Sorry if it seems I am disrespecting anyone, I truly am not trying to be disrespectful. I am only wanting to know what certain people did incorrectly, or if this was secretly more of a popularity contest.

I find it disappointing to see a company like Evga launch a so-called serious contest while the draws of the winners are sort randomly. I created this image in a many hours. But when I see the winners who do not even have the EVGA logo that was asked to add in their wallpaper, it's not a serious contests! I have a company that buys several Evga parts for our customers. I think we are turning to another company more respectful of its customers now. -- GurMaster

Thanks, Huse! Woooo good to see the 7 hours we (my channel partner/lifelong friend and i) spent on writing, shooting, and editing our commercial entry paid off! It was incredibly difficult to really fit what we wanted into 30 seconds lol. Wonder if we can even meet up in person to collect the prize since we are all local to eachother, that would be cool. Congrats to all the other winners, and to everyone else...keep on trying! Never give up! never surrender!

I am quite disappointed in the some of the winners from the wallpaper contest because it is clear that they have not put in nearly as much effort as I have, it is as if some of the winning wallpapers took five minutes to do on MS Paint. I followed the criteria from the terms and conditions which is based on originality, clarity of idea, use of color, and use of space. Objectively, my wallpaper clearly excelled in the criteria compared to the winners.

this has been answered multiple times. It's on the same page as the contest itself for each one.

My personal opinion, its kind of random, it makes no sense. It looks like you just took random colorful things and slapped an EVGA logo and 1080 on it. I wouldn't put that on my desktop but as the saying goes, opinions are like edited, everybody has one and they all stink.

No offense to the wallpaper winners but some of them are really bad. I was working on mine for 4 days, everything from scratch and got nothing? :\ I wouldn't be upset about not winning if the competitors made some really sick ass wallpapers but...come on now, lets be real. Hopefully they get better judges the next time, some that now their stuff. (In case anyone is wondering what I made)

Following the criteria for judging: - Originality - the idea is original, based on themes of steampunk and futuristic fiction. The 1080 Ti is like a UFO that crashed onto the floating island.
- Clarity of idea - there are many ideas that are formed to create the gaming atmosphere. The ideas are not clustered together, the idea is distinct in the wallpaper.
- Use of color - just because there are red, green, and blue colors in the wallpaper, doesn't mean it was put in randomly. Colors are used to grab attention and show meaning. Compared to some winners with wallpapers consisting of a single color scheme, my wallpaper uses colors effectively.
- Use of space - there are many focal points that is achieved using space.

Ok so you met the literal definition, its still random images thrown together with no cohesiveness. You have a space background, sailing ships for some reason, a floating island looking like an iceberg in space. There are so many focal points that its hard to know where to begin. Use of space doesn't mean literally outer space, you took the rules a little too literally. There is no clarity at all, its totally random. It makes no sense.

Other than the literal space I used, I used negative space and alignment. Sailing ships that are floating in mid-air are common in steampunk themes. Floating islands are common in futuristic fiction/video games. The main focal point is where the obvious 1080 Ti lies and everything else compliments that.

That would make sense if you picked a theme and continued with it, but using a small element of a theme then moving on to another is confusing. If you were going for steampunk stick with it, if you were going for futuristic stick with it. The 1080 is just.....there, with no reason why, gears for some reason, its chaos. Its like you just went "I'm going to put this here, and this here and this here and this here and viola!! Art!" It just doesn't work.

You have a space background, sailing ships for some reason, a floating island looking like an iceberg in space. There are so many focal points that its hard to know where to begin. Use of space doesn't mean literally outer space, you took the rules a little too literally. There is no clarity at all, ots totally random.
Just did a little more research: some consider floating islands as steampunk, and steampunk is a genre of science fiction. These two themes are not polarizing. A quick Google Image search with these keywords, "floating island steampunk" shows that my wallpaper isn't as chaotic as you describe it to be. Besides, it's fiction - it doesn't have to make sense. Whether the "art" works or not, art is subjective because it is your perception of the piece. There are plenty of art that exist without cohesive explanations. Art is meant for others to appreciate and connect with on a personal level.

Orcusto next year guys i'll come back with more power !!! let's move on now and congratulations for all winners !!!!
I think the point of it is more along the lines of: Why even bother next year? I mean some of the wall paper images look like they were simply zoomed in images, or no effort put into creating them. Some of the videos that won are very common things to happen in game, some were published to youtube 1 month or even 1 year prior to launch of the contest, and some of the videos are similar but the winning video offers less content. The video with D.VA baiting Reinhardt, has been very common since pre-launch of the game, and was published to YouTube 1 year ago. The "Grand Prize" winning video is something that is seen in nearly every single game of Rainbow Six: Siege. I have never played the game which is titled "Close Shave" but I would assume that is very common to not get hit by torpedoes? The PUBG video, with person hiding in UAZ, is also very common. Lastly, the video with a kill by jet ski. (Is a great clip, not trying to knock it at all.) I submitted a video from PUBG, which involved me doing two barrel rolls, and killing a person with vehicle. (Mine is on page 23 of the video submissions. As said earlier, maybe I am just biased.) Again, not saying that the winning video wasn't funny and good. I submitted a video very similar, thus I obviously think both are worthy of an entry.

xoenea I am quite disappointed in the some of the winners from the wallpaper contest because it is clear that they have not put in nearly as much effort as I have, it is as if some of the winning wallpapers took five minutes to do on MS Paint. I followed the criteria from the terms and conditions which is based on originality, clarity of idea, use of color, and use of space. Objectively, my wallpaper clearly excelled in the criteria compared to the winners.
My personal opinion, its kind of random, it makes no sense. It looks like you just took random colorful things and slapped an EVGA logo and 1080 on it. I wouldn't put that on my desktop but as the saying goes, opinions are like edited, everybody has one and they all stink.
Following the criteria for judging:
- Originality - the idea is original, based on themes of steampunk and futuristic fiction.

Whatever you say dude, I wouldn't have picked it and there were much better ones that didn't get picked.

So the EVGA judges didn't reverse image search? Several of the winners lifted content that isn't theirs or EVGA's in violation of the rules of ownership. Some are pretty blatant too. This is disappointing. Yay desktop forum works again!
