Hi, I've run into a challenge with my 1300 G2 PSU. When I connect CPU1 or CPU2 to motherboard 8pin (JPWR2) pc is not starting. First I couldn't figure out what was causing so removed all cables except 24pin cable and connected all components one by one until it stopped and looks like it's CPU1/CPU2. I have tried both CPU1 and CPU2 and with different cables. As soon I connect 8pin (JPWR2) I hear a click sound then nothing more. What could this be ?

Is it the CPU1/CPU2 port on PSU or  8pin (JPWR2) on motherboard ?

Sounds like one of the psu protections is being triggered.

The EVGA 1300 G2 only comes with two CPU cables, what other cables did you test with?
Let's hope you did not use a PCIe GPU Power Cable.
Take your MB out of the Computer Case and test on a table top.
You can only use the Cables that came with your G2 or other EVGA G2/3 P2 or T2 Cables.
Do Not Use any Corsair Cables.

I have only used CPU cables that came with the PSU. Motherboard is an MSI z170A Gaming Pro Carbon.
At the moment I only have connected 24pin to JPWR1 and CPU1 cable to 8pin (JPWR2) on motherboard.
If I remove 8pin it starting as it should. I just have the motherboard and psu on an wooden table.

Sounds like you may have a faulty cable. Converting a 6-pin pci-e to an 8-pin atx will help you narrow things down.

The other brand new PSU cabel did not make any difference that came with package, I tried with another motherboard also. Two new faulty cables sounds crazy. The result is pretty much the same, the only thing that differs is that the fan starts and stops real quick. It looks like a normal start for 1 sec. It's like it needs that little extra power to make it going. On the first motherboard it's only click sound. Disconnecting 8pin on motherboard both starts.

You have two cables? Both cannot be bad?

Yes both are same model but different revision. One of them are new and the other one year old.
I will try to get my hands of another psu to troubleshoot. I want to pinpoint what is causing it.

After more digging it might not be the PSU actually. I connected ram, cpu fan, ssd and 24pin and 8pin to motherboard and rig it's starting. So perhaps it's the cpu that's causing it. When I attach the cpu it's not starting that's for sure.

Running without the cpu in the socket is pretty much the same thing as running withtout the 8-pin connected. Let us know how the new psu works.

    Yes, I let you know.
If I try to start with cpu in socket it won't start, when I remove cpu from socket it starts. 8pin connected in both cases.
