Available for Pre-order

I ordered one even though I doubt it will work with a Kingpin, whatever right? :P. (It doesn't look to make the EKWB configurator.) Oh well even if doesn't work out because of the VRM parts, I still have my own active cooled backplate I should finish this week.

Expected to ship out Early April

just get the mp5 1 and you can slap it onto your evga card right now.

Seems like this would be unnecessary for the 3080, but 100% yes for the 3090. Or am I wrong with that assumption?

    Ooooooooooooooooooooooo.

I wonder if this will work with a Kingpin - it says Reference PCBs only, but the backplate side of the Kingpin, at least as far as the memory layout etc goes, is pretty standard, I think.

The mp5 is aight, for most. If you follow me in Dabadger84's thread I'm a little bit of a nut. I'm currently making my own back plate out of copper to cool the backside of the GPU which will be done with the last part gets here on Friday. It's no where near as clean as this EKWB backplate, but it will work. To me the Mp5, you slap on top of an aluminum heat sink, on top of two thick mid range thermal pads, to cool the backside, and I'm sure it works.

But if you have a kingpin, you might be a lunatic who wants to push it with heat sinks, or memory water blocks, or .... what ever crazy you were born with... so the Mp5 doesn't work for me.

Necessity is different for everyone. It would still actively cool the backside of the GPU giving lower temperatures, with quality microfins that otherwise not obtainable to most. Or maybe you find that $149 is outrageous and the temp difference doesn't warrant the additional money and stress. Or maybe you hate fans and you don't care about temps, you just edge 1 dba closer at a time... I dunno.

I'd easily drop $400 for a kingpin Optimus version that worked with an Optimus water block, but that's me... because I can't make anywhere near the quality they can make...

If it works I'm going to have some confetti coming out my rear end...

This won't work for EVGA cards though, right?

    • This block is made for reference PCB 3080 and 3090 cards. Founders Edition does NOT have a reference PCB.
Also, 140 euros just for the backplate?

It is a waterblock... I don't know if it will work.

Overclockers.net says all evga are custom, but who knows if the custom part will make a difference on the back side of the card. It seems like most everyone has the memory in the same darn spot, so ... I dunno

On their list, it looks to be only 9 reference blocks from all companies on their list.

There is a Quantum Vector FTW3 block by EKWB, so I would imagine this would work with it.

I bought it in such a rush OOF

    There's EVGA XC3 versions listed on EK's site - EK-Quantum Vector XC3 RTX 3080/3090 Active Backplate D-RGB - PlexiEK-Quantum Vector XC3 RTX 3080/3090 Active Backplate - Acetal (for pre-order, expected early April 2021). Hopefully there's a FTW3 is in the works as the XC3 active backplate doesn't list compatibility for the FTW3.

The FTW and XC3s are different sized PCB with the 90/80 FTWs being similar and the 90/80 XC3 being similar.

I don't think yet, but this product isn't out either. I canceld my order as I was quickly skeptical I could make it fit a kingpin. The plate is 99mm wide, and a Kingpin is much more then 99mm, I would measure it, but it's not even close for this sake...
