It looks like patience is winning the battle thanks to EVGA and the Auto-Notify system being the real heroes!
 
A month ago the average price on Ebay from scalpers was $2400 USD. This has now dropped to around $1700 USD to $2100 USD and I am seeing alot of posts with 0 bids which is great news for us in winning this war against those greedy SOBs that just want to take away all the fun from us during the holidays. Once the price goes to Below MSRP on EBAY the scalper's are out and they won't have any profit left. The incentive to do it won't be there.
 
So at what point do we win? Well when the 6900 XT comes out December 8 from AMD the shift in focus will go towards that for the scalpers and less on the 3090 which means we should see demand on the EVGA store go down and making it easier for us to buy a card.
 
At the same time the price of the scalpers should drop to either MSRP or below because we know the 3080 Ti is coming Q1 of 2021 even though EVGA staff can not confirm or deny, they probably say that with a smile on their face  and they said the same thing when the 1180 Ti was going to be released last year and we all know it turned out to be the 2080 Ti. But anyway...
 
20GB 3080 will make demand for the 3090 Go down also because most gamers will say that 20 GB is enough for games. 3rd week of December and 4th week is looking really good for demand going down giving us a better chance at a EVGA 3090.
 
Until then let's continue to boycott the EBAY scalpers and we will win this war. The scalpers will sit there with unsold Graphics Cards taking huge losses.

My local Microcenter has at least 5-10 cards in stock per week so chances are the market will be flooded soon and demand will slow down.

It's how things work. They buy them right after release and then in the spring supply catches up with demand. It's also that after Cyberpunk 2077 launches not many really big games are going to require a high end video card until the spring. In a normal year you normally see the big releases around the fall and then late spring early summer.

That is disgusting. With the news that Nvidia sold directly to miners ($175M worth of 30 series GPUs), scalping doesn't seem like it'll go away soon unfortunately.

In addition to the price drop, reviewers have been pointing out the dollar value for frames between the 3080 and the 3090 is only about 10% which for gamers is not worth it. 3080ti may be the solution and as you mentioned, could drop the price of scalped 3090's below msrp's.
I've been monitoring the ebay market myself, mostly to laugh at the absurd bids that were placed to troll and slow down the seller posts and the meme posts. Most cards now have stabilized to a profit of about $200 over msrp.
In addition, I've monitored local FB posts and one user in particular has been putting in time to include combo "deals" with cpu's motherboards, even power supplies. So much time wasted trying to earn a few bucks.
 
If these scalpers were so smart, the amount of money dropped on these gpu's could've gone into stocks and likely had a 100% return with the amount of time they've held the gpu.

I noticed lately scalpers on Craigslist & OfferUp were lowering the prices of their 3090's almost to MSRP.
Personally, I lucked out earlier this week and picked up a 3090 from Walmart for MSRP.

You can already see that scalpers are about to be done with 3080s and hopefully move onto something else. Unfortunately they will do it again as they still made profits for the first two months.

I check my local craigslist and prices are $900-1000 that's barely a mark up from MSRP as they paid $770+ tax etc. So means more and more cards are in the hands of gamers now as they can't sell it at double price like the first month.

Followed that link above in this post to look at the 3000's on ebay...there is a 3090 selling for $200 from a guy from Wyckoff, NJ (a real place). "Rtx 3090 Founders Edition Print On Paper". Total scam though...the pic is from a TechRadar review of the 3090.

I reported it a few hours ago
and they said they would "investigate".
