Hello all,
there have been a couple posts, calls, emails regarding a difficulty to get a OS to load on a RAID array based on the Intel RAID controller in Windows 7 32/64.
I have put a driver up for download at http://www.evga.com/suppo...art_number=150-SE-E789
Download the zip file, extract the contents to a thumb drive, and during the installation, when prompted, navigate to where the driver was extracted to, this should allow you to install windows 7 to a RAID array.

    Hello,

The 64 bit version of this driver did not work for me it still gives the wrong driver error when I try to install from thumb drive.

    Thank you,

Odd, I tested it personally with that exact file on a thumb drive before making it available for download.

Not sure off the top of my head, I would have to look into it and get back to you.

I have always be able to use the default Windows 7 x64 drivers to install into RAIS 0 with no problems.  I have done this several times in the past.  The Intel drivers never worked for me on installation.  Is seems like Intel's drivers sometimes worked, but if it worked you had to have Windows already installed on a single drive and then with the second empty drive link to 2 drives into a RAID 0 configuration.   I have not done a clean install with Windows 7 drives with the 77 or 79 series chipsets, so they might be reacting differently.

X79 is different Ken on windows 7 install bud. It will not see your drives if bios is set to Raid without  those F6 drivers.

There is no such issue with Windows 8, the drivers are built in.

The RAID controller on the X79 was built long after W7, so it is not embedded in the OS.  The builds I tested on was a 100% clean build on 3x platter drives in RAID5, loaded the driver off of a thumb drive, installed windows without an issue.

If there are further issues, please  reply, email me, PM me, with as much info as possible, and if available a screenshot of the error.

Trying to install Win 7 64 bit on the x79 under a raid array and having issues with the drivers. I have tried both the drivers you provided and the ones under the x79 downloads. I can use the 32 bit and it works and will install but will not reboot upon completion. The 64 bit drivers will not install. If you go through the normal install process you receive an error about signed drivers. Oddly I receive the same warning about the 32 bit drivers but the array then shows up. If you go through the repair option and try to install the 64 bit driver it will just fail and say "the installation has failed. "

What can I do differently to get this to work? Thank you.

When I did my Windows 7 64 bit install using RAID initially it just would not work, no matter which Intel RAID drivers I installed. Finally I discovered that I had to load both the Intel RAID *and* the Marvell 91xx SATA drivers. It seems that Windows sees the Marvell ports but detect them as unresponsive or something. After loading both drivers the Windows setup completed and booted without issue.
