I am looking for a 32" TV for my bedroom the size is good because it will fit nicely in the corner of the room. I saw these 2 below. the first is only $349.99, but it's 720p 60Hz and the second is $449.99 w/code and is 1080p and 120Hz.   I have heard good things here and there.  My question is Does anyone have a Vizio and if so are they decent?

I'm ready to pull the trigger so any advice would be helpful....

Yes I have owned 2 Vizio LCD's and both were pretty good for the money. They're more of a budget brand and the picture quality is not the best in terms of contrast, black levels, and color reproduction. I would go with the 720p model for use as a bedroom tv.

Thanks,  that's what I was wondering if a 32" 720p or 1080p would make a difference in my bedroom,  but then there was the 60Hz and 120Hz as well hmmm

On a 32" the difference between 720p and 1080p will not be as obvious. Do you plan on using this tv to watch blu rays or a video game system (Xbox 360/PS3)? If not then 1080p is probably not worth the extra cost. 120hz and 60hz refer to the refresh rate (similar to a computer monitor), a faster refresh rate will make fast moving images appear smoother. It's also great for gaming.

Vizio is a budget brand but they are amazing for the price. its not like other budget brands that are crappy (dynex) because vizio isnt an off brand (like dynex). we have a 1080 res 22in TV in our kitchen and its a good TV.

as for 720p vs. 1080p it doesnt really make a difference. 720p would be better for PS3/360 gaming and for standard def TV as well. but for blu ray movies and HD TV  the 1080 would be better.

My friend has one, and he stated the brand to be notoriously inferior. I guess he had bad luck. He bought 2 displays to use as displays that constantly show products on screen in his store. One displays backlight died and the other is on the verge on dying as well. He does run them almost 24/7 but those displays are supposed to have a longer life than 5-6 months

thats odd. outs works fine. maybe it was just the product line he bought. some people are unlucky. lol. if he bought them at the same time then maybe they were both from a same....(cant think of word) slightly faulty group of products. lol.

the one i have works and its in front of our sink and gets wet a lot. which is bad for an LCD but it doesnt seem too bad.

side not: is there a plastic covvering you can buy for a TV to protect it from things like this? like a hard plastic casing not just the outsides.

Advice, go to a store with the exact models (or at least th ebrandname) and see them, play with them.  Don't make judgements solely on internet only.  This isn't a computer monitor, it's a tv, an investment for years longer.  Get a feel of it way before you "pull the trigger".

A college suitemate got a 37" 720p Vizio from Costco for our dorm, it was decent, it did look as if he spent more, but back then it was cheap, lol.  Although he did complain about the pixel size while playing Xbox live, and we made fun of him saying most people don't sit 3 feet from the screen.

My personal thought is a bit iffy on the screen resolution, I'm worried since I'm used to a 1080p 24" from 2-3 feet away, even if I sit far enough back with a 32" 720p, that it might not look right.  DVD"s are 480p and 720p, but Blu-Rays are not.

For Intel processors, 0.122 x TDP = Continuous Amps at 12v [source].

I have it in my cart, it ships free (the 1080p-120Hz one), but haven't pulled the trigger yet,  I am looking around for others to price compare and reviews as well.

thatswhy we asked what he was using it for. because 720p on too big of a screen would look bad. but so would 1080 on things with low res source video. like PS3 and 360 that are around 500p.

just go with the 1080p one. roughly same size screen wasnt it? had a lower response time and is higher resolution.

Yes both are 32" and I am just using it to watch TV and DVDs,  but I may go Blu-Ray, but not any time soon.  I'm going to hold off a little while and see what else is out there.  I was just looking at 240Hz TVs now for no apparent reason   Thanks guys for the input

I have a 42" 120 Hz Vizio LCD TV, I've had NO problems with it and I have owned for 2 years. I bought it Sam's Club , but they do sell them at other places as well. I would say if you're going to watch Blu-ray on it I'd opt for a 120 Hz model, My inlaws have a 37" sony thats only 720p and 60Hz and when you play DVDs it ghosts alot, mine doesn't .

Thanks,  I was trying to stay in the $500. and below for 32",  but it appears there are quite a few in that range.  I'm going to stick with 1080p- 120Hz.  I'll have this figured out before the night is over...I hope

I have a 26" Vizio 1080p. The picture is nice, but the sound from the speakers are terrible. The sound is the only negative.

The panel itself is a LCD display and they are typically backlit with CFFL bulbs. LED-LCD TV's are backlit with LED bulbs. The cheaper ones are edge lit and usually thinner. LED tv's use The high end models have a backlit array with sections that can be turned off during dark scenes. This is known as dynamic LED backlighting or local dimming. This type of backlighting gives LCD tv's a huge contrast ratio (difference between pure black and white) and using less electricity at the same time.

I have a 32" LG LCD and a 46" Sony LED and they use about the same amount of electricity. LED's are also commonly found in new computer monitors as well.

Well... I have seen more of those returned to Costco and Best buy than even the Dinex brand. SO I have stayed away.

That said... We debated on this as well this past weekend and ended up with another off brand for the US.. Westinghouse 32" LED 720p for $329 at Costco. Same here at Amazon... We even wall mounted it on a 360 swivel mount...

Just keep in mind nearly every LED TV is actuality the lighting portion of the TV's... Some fire from the sides while others from the rear. Let your eyes decide.

BTW if you buy your TV from Costco (If one is near you) they double the Manufacturer warranty for free....

Edit.... DOH! Forgot to hit post hahahaha... Sorry for the delay as other have already mentioned on the LED's...

I had a roommate last year that had a 30 something inch Vizio (very similar to the first link, the 720p one). I always thought the picture looked really good. We played PS3 on it quite a bit, and it really looked nice with the PS3, probably because the PS3 runs most games in 720p.

However, he got a PC later that year and connected it to that TV, and PC games looked horrible on it. The text was barely readable, and some games were hardly playable. PC games just need the extra resolution...

So, for movies, TV, and consoles, it was great, bot don't expect to use it as a monitor or anything.

I have a little 19" one that i cant stand. lol

But that thing has been on for more than 20 hours a day so it had a bit of burn effect to it. But honistly all other Vizios i have seen are a really good deal.

Well, TD seems to be having a deal on a 42" ... Specs look good and everything, but don't know if it's a good deal or not.

    Anyway, here it is:

I was just looking at this one I think you can't go wrong for $599. I was looking for a 32" but I could make 42" work perhaps <looks up and strokes chin while thinking> I better stick with the 32"....

I have the 42" Vizio 1080p lcd for 6 months or so and the picture has been real nice...I love watching movies upstairs in our bedroom on it.

All my stuff is hooked up to receivers, so I can't really comment on the speakers but I have always heard in-tv speakers are junk on any TV, any brand...

I work at Sam's Club, selling electronics. We have a lot of Vizio, sell a lot of Vizio, and don't get many returns... Now, Sony, Phillips and Hitachi; we get TONS of returns on those.

P.s.- Stay far away from Westinghouse and RCA

I have a 47" / 120Hz Vizio that i bought from Wal-Mart and the TV was great at first but rigth around 90 days (Wal-Mart money back return) it started acting up as when you turn it on from a cold start it has 3 diffrent fine black lines about 6 inchs apart from side to side and within the lines it looks like noise made up of more black lines moving around.. after 10-15mins it will go alway and look normal.
