Hello there,

any idea how these damages could be fixed? These came off already when I got the package from courier so I am not sure if EVGA can repair it. If not is there any guidance so that I can get it fixed by somebody who can handle soldering. I do not even sure the type of the parts missing is there a way to identify what is missing?

thank you

You need to send the card back for a refund if it came like that out of the box.

There's no fixing that. It's trashed. If you got it like that, return to sender! What did the box look like...

The nerve of someone selling you a GPU like that is troubling but it does happen.  I would get a hold of this Mr./Mrs. A and get a refund.  I would be really shocked if this came as is from a retail store.

Where was this purchased and was it purchased new?  I would also wonder what you payed for since this is the worst time to snatch a 1070 because of mining.  You can basically get a new 1080 for the price of some of these 1070s.

Unfortunately as others mentioned we would be unable to cover this under warranty. I would recommend contacting the shipping company and starting a damage claim, or the original shipper to ask for a replacement if possible.

I don't know who sold you a card like that, but I'm thinking lots of adjectives for him and none of them can be written in this forums.

    ok I see.
are you able to tell me which part are missing? I have a friend who can handle soldering on PCB. at least maybe I can get support from EVGA on this.

Its not a part you are missing, it is a damaged PCB. Un-repairable! The only thing you could do is take the GPU die and put it on another working PCB, but you would need a donor card that just has a bad chip and nothing else. You are SOL.

yes you are right but from the picture it is only showing PCB damage )it is slight scratch and very minor not impacting anything. My issue which is not seen very well in the pics is missing small part came off the board. I will now provide detailed picture of each part that came off. thanks for your support.

You said you paid for insurance. Get the insurance money and buy a different card. If you attempt to repair and use this card, you may end up setting your home on fire.. is it worth the risk?

Oh I see it knocked off a few resistors in the middle. You are still out of luck because those not are straight threw and need to be soldered to the right PCB layer, otherwise it will short the whole board. No one can fix this. You need a new PCB.

the PCB is Damaged. you'd need an entire new PCB, resisters... Its dead Bro. DEAD.

As if you shot it with a gun. Kaput? Finished... Fatality.. however you want to put it. Take the insurance money, buy a new one. GG

thanks to all your feedback. I think I should accept that it is dead and chase for insurance to get the money back and get a new one.

Is the card actually dead? From photos posted it look like external layer ground copper is missing a bit, but it doesn't make to second inner layer.
There are no components in that area, so I'd expect that card still works just fine, given there is no other damage. Of course, this is info AS IS :)

If you have question, please post in public forum. I do not reply PMs, so all in community can benefit the answer.

The card is not garbage.  The PCB damage is only the ground plane, it doesn't look like there were any traces there.

As for the 4 missing components, they're capacitors.  Measure the ones that are still on the board and order new ones from Digikey or something.  Also a tube of some black UV curable solder mask repair and lead solder if your friend doesn't have any.

Edit: It's really hard to tell from the pics, are there other components missing?

I would maybe sell it on ebay "as is" and "not working for parts" to get someone that knows how to repairs these and get decent change for it than nothing.

Thank you. you were right on the PCB damage. it was on the ground plane, nothing on middle layer. We did exactly the same you advised and found the capacitors and soldered them back. Card is now effectively working. (the capacitors have been obtained from one of the old laptop motherboards) cost of fixing it is $17

Glad to hear it.  Hopefully you won't have to go through too much trouble to get the insurance from the carrier.

Even though the card is fixed now, I would highly advise you to use it with caution, The card is technically still damaged and if it's powered on, if it surges or anything it would most likely take your entire PC with it. Hopefully the insurance people will be able to help you.

    Good luck!
