Greetings all, I wanted to share a picture of my motherboards custom painted Thermal Armor. I used PPG Liquid metal silver paint with an Iwata airbrush. I painted it to match my cases paint theme. I also added some ASUS chrome decals on two areas and painted the heatsinks silver/black as well. I am an fairly experienced automotive paint sprayer and first started back in 2012 and I decided to custom paint my Cooler Master HAF 932 case. Since it is such a popular case I decided to paint it to have a unique theme that would make it stand out from the crowd. I themed this project after the anime series Gundam 00 and the orange Gundam ARIOS that is featured in the Movie 'A Wakening of the Trailblazer'. I decided to go with a Phoenix Kandy Orange that was sprayed over the silver and I am very happy with the end result. You can see some more photos of my rig on my MOD RIGS page.

I am planning to post a thread that shows the evolution of my entire system, a project that has taken me over 2 years to obtain and costed over $11,000 to complete (it's still not fully complete). I will show the before and after pictures of my Gundam Cockpit. I hope you guys will enjoy seeing how my system started very basic and finshed up with looking like a very futuristic space cockpit. For now I will just post the motherboard as I need to get all of my images in order for the main post. I hope this will inspire you to custom paint your rig as custom painting is in it's own special niche. Thanks for looking and stay tuned if you would like to see more of my systems evolution.

Here's what my rig looked like back in early 2015. I started painting it in March of this year and was finished with the paint job by May.

Thanks! I have a trick up my sleeve for that, you see I have a backup motherboard of the same type and I haven't painted its thermal armor, so I will just swap it out if I need to RMA

Thanks hah, glad you managed to get a hold of that Z5500 while they still made them. I am planning on getting the new Rockford Fosgate 5.1 system soon. But yeah most of those speakers are controlled by a 1000w 5ch car audio amp. 14 full range speakers are on that amp including two 8" woofers down on the floor next to the sides of the desk in carpeted boxes. That amp and all the speakers give a rich full sound that I personally love. The old Z5500 wasn't powerful enough to drive all those speakers so I use it for my center channel/center sub (I replaced the 10" Logitech one with a Kicker CVR aluminized) The center channel powers 6 speakers. Also behind me and my chair I have two rear 5.25 Kicker CS's on their own 2 channel Pyle Pro amp as well as 2 Kicker CVR 15's in a ported box on it's own monoblock 1000W Amp. I live out in the country so I have no worries if I feel like cranking up the volume sometimes. Shakes the whole house if I get stupid with it lol. I have a new ASUS Strix Pro 7.1 sound card comming in soon that I will replace my Creative G5 with (the surround sound positioning is crap on it). I also use a set of V-Moda Crossfade M-100 headphones which blow any of my old "gaming" headphones out the water.  I am an audiophile so I just decided to go all out on the speakers and sound quality. It's a hell of a setup for sure and gaming with it just brings the immersion to a whole nother level.

Nowadays, I can only play things load in my head. Mrs don't like (appreciate) noise, so I got myself a Chord Mojo Dac, Set of SR325e Grado's and hooked it up to my imac running Audirvana Plus.
