Hello. Please forgive my ignorance as I've never built a computer before... I wanted to inquire as to weather or not my EVGA Z170 Stinger motherboard allows me to install a liquid cpu cooler and if so, does it need to be plugged in somewhere on the motherboard? (I'd imagine so) but where on the motherboard exactly?
Be gentle, Thanks 😊

What Case are you going to use? For the most part any liquid cpu cooler should work but it will depend on the case you use. Some plug into the CPU Fan Header on the Motherboard and some do not. What liquid cpu cooler are you thinking about?

As long as the cooler is compatible with Socket 115X, it will work. As BCav said, you just need to make sure your case can support the radiator and fan together.
Aside from that, you will be golden. :-)
Take your time and make sure you follow a few YouTube guides. You don't need to tighten the cooler down with a jackhammer for it to work. Finger tight is plenty.

I saw here on forum several watercooling loop on Stinger motherboards. You want custom liquid cooling from different parts, or some of AIO CPU Coolers? You have 3 fan headers on top of Z170 Stinger one for pump and two for fans.

Still in the process of researching the best AIO cooling system to be honest. And due to this fact, have yet to choose a case. I know I do not want an mITX case because I prefer the option of more room in the future if I choose to upgrade the motherboard. I've been looking at ATX cases so far. Also, I purchased an EVGA GTX 980Ti Hybrid due to having the liquid cooled feature. As for this gpu, I'm trying to find a good case that will allow room for the radiator on the back interior wall of the case while still allowing plenty of space up top for a radiator with 2 big fans attached to it. I keep coming back to the Corsair line though to be honest. It's just very difficult going by pictures on the Internet :/ "Future-proof" is key to me also. Appreciate your responses. 😊 Leaning towards Corsair Hydro Series H115i 280mm Extreme Performance Liquid CPU Cooler but not sure it is compatible :/

According to the Corsair info page on the H115i, it's compatible with Intel™ LGA 1150, 1151, 1155, 1156, 1366, 2011 and 2011-3, and AMD™ sockets FM1, FM2, AM2, and AM3. It'll work fine on your Stinger. Any case that has space for a dual radiator should work fine. In most cases, you can mount the card's radiator on the rear 120/140mm fan behind the CPU.

That's awesome! 😊 Only now, I've yet to determine where I would plug it into the motherboard.. And if I were to buy the H115i, would I have to sacrifice the front sub ports on whichever case I choose? I did not choose the Stinger motherboard...It chose me lol (I won it)
By the way, huge thank you to each and every one of you who have replied! I am extremely greatful 😊

Beware a lot of the new EVGA Z170 boards do not have USB 2.0 headers on the inside and most AIO water coolers use USB 2.0. If you do not mind loosing software function and bios updates there are workarounds. Also take into consideration that most only have one 3.0.

as far as cases go I would recommend Fractal Design Define S Silent Computer Case it designed for water cooling and has plenty of room for all your componets

These all also work with 1151's confirmed this morning all of them work with intel 115x sockets but is PITA I hear on instructions, I do not get why these companies do not change the compatablility specs of sockets this goes for like 90% of all water and air coolers so basically if supports any 115x socket will most highly likely fit the 1151's but you will have to follow the 1150 install procedures as I did on my air cooler master evo212 and was not super easy just got that lol. This is what is fixing to go into my case not choose yet, corsair says go with the 80 much nicer looking fatter block for better cooling and dual 120mms http://www.newegg.com/Pro...x?Item=N82E16835181089 Or the H90 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835181036 I can put 120 or 140mm or rear exhaust no biggie this will be my 1st water cooled anything lol
