Yeah I got the email too, I never heard about it before though.  $60-$70 entry level HAF case.  I didn't see that one coming.

Yeah the suggested price was low... $59-$69.  That's lower than the CM 690 II so this ought to be interesting.

Looking forward to see it, but I really don't see them putting out anything very decent for that price. Probably one front fan, one rear exhaust fan, no side panel window but possibly vents.

I could be wrong of course, but I'm almost positive there will be very little in this case and it won't be built half as well as the other HAF cases.

The article is a little vague as to what case is in the picture. He probably thought they were of the HAF 912.

Why are you guys calling this an entry-level case?  Do you know what entry-level is usually associated with or are you judging what is the cheapest you could get for yourself, or the next level down that you wouldn't get?

An entry-level chassis is a basic enclosure, no more than $50, it is a typical OEM box.

My old CoolerMaster Centurion 540 could qualify, but even a shortened HAF? No.

Not necessarily. Entry level to me means more like good-better-best, meaning entry level is "good". Not "cheap" A 50 some dollar HAF case is going to have to be fairly small and there is no way it's going to have all the capabilities of the HAF-X for that low a price. It's kinda like the BMW 3 series is the "entry level" car vs the 5 or 7 series. The 3 series is obviously a great car, but not as great as a 7 series.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't the entry level BMW crown go to the 1 series. On to the point, "Entry level" is a matter of perception and how you define it personally. If you compare by price point you could skew the figures (not that one should) so the HAF 912 looks like the enthusiast case versus some line of cases priced between $20 and $70 (arbitrary numbers).

With that said, I personally shop for what gives me the best bang for my buck and on occassion I'll go for broke by buying features at any cost. It depends on the availability of your resources at the time.

Because this will be the HAF "entry level."  As people above said, it is expected to be around 60 or 70 dollars, so we know it is the most basic case of the line.

Just like you said the the BMW 1 series (or 3-series, seems basic 3 is cheaper then the basic 1) is the bottom price point, and thus it makes it the entry level, this is the same for new HAF (granting people expectations are right).  Not like we say the BMW is an entry level car, its an entry level BMW.

If that photo I linked to above is indeed what you will get for approx $60. I'm definitly going to get this case over the CM 690 II.

Although at this point almost anything is better than my NZXT Beta EVO.

From the looks of those pictures that will probably be my next case, hopefully it also has a side panel fan and one of those GPU fan vents from the HAF X.

The HAF 922 can be picked up for the same price as the 690 II Advanced and Lancool K62 (which beats the 690 II in most categories except airflow).

This might be a side panel fan - 140mm and 120mm mounts it looks like.  No filter of course.

Not sure about any ducts though.
