Good morning all:

I need to convert my 3080 XC3 hybrid kit back to a normal air-cooled XC3 and in removing the air cooler initially, the thermal putty tore in half in several areas so I ended up removing all of it and cleaning down the air cooler before putting it in storage.

I now want to put the air cooler back on--the hybrid kit's performance is only so-so and it takes up too much room in my microATX case.

Does anyone have exact specs on the needed XC3 thermal pads to ensure it is properly cooled? I found this post for the FTW3 and was hoping similar information was out there for the XC3: /FindPost/3250636

Sorry for the delay; I wanted to confirm something with the HYBRID cards/kits.

3090/3080 FTW3 Pads:
Spoiler

1pcs: 7.7mm x 6.5mm x 2.75mm
2pcs: 53mm x 14mm x 2.25mm
1pcs: 37.5mm x 14mm x 2.25mm
1pcs: 15mm x 12mm x 2.25mm
1pcs: 110mm x 5mm x 2.5mm

3090/3080 FTW3 BP Pads:
Spoiler

2pcs: 51mm x 12mm x 2mm
1pcs: 38mm x 12mm x 2mm
1pcs: 14mm x 10mm x 2mm

3090/3080 FTW3 HYBRID/HYBRID Kit Pads:
Spoiler

Thermal pads for VRAM heatsink:
2pcs: 49mm x 13mm x 2.25mm
1pcs: 37.5mm x 12mm x 2.25mm
1pcs: 13mm x 13mm x 2.25mm

Thermal pads for standalone heatsink:
1pcs: 80mm x 4.5mm x 2.25mm
1pcs: 75mm x 11mm x 0.75mm - Note: This thermal pad is not initially on the HYBRID card.  Thermal putty is used in its place.  If you remove/clean the thermal putty, then replace it with a thermal pad of these dimensions.

Thermal pads for heatsink connected to the fan:
1pcs: 106mm x 5mm x 2.25mm
1pcs: 105mm x 11mm x 0.75mm - Note: This thermal pad is not initially on the HYBRID card.  Thermal putty is used in its place.  If you remove/clean the thermal putty, then replace it with a thermal pad of these dimensions.

Edit: I'd also need to flash the regular XC3 bios back to it, but haven't been able to find that, only the hybrid one that one of the EVGA folks had posted.

Maybe try remounting the cooler onto it if the performance is not as expected.

I think you should be able to use the thermal pads that came with your hybrid cooler.

It didn't come with any, it was all thermal putty that tore the first time I remounted it.

For each RTX 3080, i needed
    1 pack of Thermal Grizzly Minus Pad 8 Thermal Pad, 120 × 20 × 1.0 mm
    1 pack of Thermal Grizzly Minus Pad 8 Thermal Pads, 120 x 20 x 2.0 mm
1 pack of Thermalright or other 3.0 thermal pads, approx 100 x 100 x 3.0 mm due to the VRM lines and the backplate.
1 tube of Thermal Grizzly Kryonaut paste or other paste

It depends on how much is inside the pack of pads.  120 x 20 just made it for 1mm and 2mm, needed more of the 3mm due to back plate pads over memory.

The Hybrid cooler comes with pre-applied thermal pads. I mean those ones. The original of the air cooler definitely was caked and got destroyed removing.

This is not applicable for the XC3 HYBRID.  VRAM is 2.5mm for instance, and 3mm on the backplate causes it to visibly bow outwards and cause poor contact with the core. Can you confirm this is for the XC3 with air cooler, or just generic 3080 advice?

    My eVGA 3080 XC3.
2.5mm vRam did NOT work for air cooler.

I received the following answer from EVGA support for the RTX 3080 XC3 with the standard air cooler:

Thank you for contacting EVGA. Here are the sizes and thickness of the thermal pads for the 3080 XC3 card. Please note all the sizes are in mm.

    15 x 12 x 2.25
    53 x 14 x 2.25
    83 x 5.5 x 2.5
    83 x 6.5 x 2.75
    37.5 x 14 x 2.25
Next question... thermal pads come in 0.5mm increments. Anyone have a good idea on how to get .25 mm differences? Use thermal paste? Or the next thicker pad?

I used thermal paste on 2mm pads to get to the 2.25mm.

So, what did you guys ended up using on your xc3?
I have two options it seems, using gelid extreme which are soft or thermalright odyssey which are hard.
    Around the same dissipation.

I remember seeing people posting on how they change the padding on their GPU for the 3080 in reddit. Google is your friend.

so are the hybrid cooler pads the same sizes as I have an evga 3080 XC3 ultra oc that I added the hybrid kit to about 2 months ago but for some reason the memory temp on it and a rx 5700 xt and a rx 5600 xt all 3 gram Temps suddenly shot up the 3080 mem temp got up to 109C and the 5700 up to 100C same for the 5600 this started like 2 weeks ago so I repaded and Temps were worse but core is at 36-51C max tried different pads and even different torques now I live in Fresno Ca. and its been warm but it does not explain this sudden raising of norm mem temp like 75-80 for rx and 70 -80c for 3080 steady for almost a year to 110C up thats where I stopped it but was still rising and 100c + rising now 3080 mem set at +1200 or 10451 but now to get it under 100c I do +1000 at night 98-100c then down to +600 during the day as its been like 100F outside but keeps it below 100c but what are the best cooling pads for a reasonable price I can see paying $30+ on just one 120x120mm thickness and that not even fujipoli I already spent over $70 on pads don't buy  Maxtor 3mm pads total junk crumbled when pressure applied and was so dry it took a bunch of thermal grizzly to spread it just ducked it up and didn't cool and anyone else see the flaw in the setup of the hybrid cooler memory/vrm cooler airflow the fan blows down into the gpu housing and most goes right out the holes in pcb instead of over the 2 set of fins and out mounting bracket
