Hi, I have a EVGA RTX 3080 XC3 Ultra and when the fans spin up I hear a coil whine type noise. Its very high pitched. Any ideas? Its fed by a Corsair AX1200 PSU so plenty of power.

Time to RMA. Hopefully your next card isn't defective. I had to return two 2080ti's for separate reasons before I got a GPU that doesn't have coil whine/fan noise.

I used the built in nvidia overclock tool in the new drivers. I am going to reset the clocks and report back.

Reset clocks and issue still remains. As soon as fans spin up, coil whine type noise. When fans are off, the card is silent.

I'm not sure what is going on with EVGA. With the last series the release GPU's had fans that made clicking noises for two separate reasons. Today we already have two post where people are having a fan noise issue. Hopefully this is a rare problem.

loud coil whine seems to happen a bit, best contact customer support but it might require an RMA.

This is why buying an EVGA model is important. No one likes whine in the first place, but it’s nice to know they stand behind their products when something is wrong.

By the way, just in response to all this I have done some troubleshooting along with members in a similar thread about this, and the issue is coming from the 3rd fan (under the "3080") and disabling this fan removes the noise completely.
Hoping I can just get a replacement fan and not worry about RMA at this point. Ticket has been submitted with EVGA so we'll see!

I've confirmed the same fan in the other thread talking about this issue. Fan 3 furthest from the IO side of the card.

I have the exact same issue (in Taiwan). Beeping as soon as fan3 spins, pitch and volume doesn't vary with rpm.

My EVGA GTX 1070 had coil-whine when I got it, and I think for a long time after that. But I haven't heard any in ages - maybe a couple of years or more. I didn't even think about detail that it wasn't there anymore until now.
Why does coil-whine go away eventually?

I think all of you seeing it on fan 3 is a coincidence. I have the issue with the middle fan.

Imagine if consoles were released making these noises?! The return rate would be ridiculously high. Thankfully EVGA fixed the issue this time immediately but last series it took them months. Nice try blaming the consumer though for a defective product. Let's hope the 3090 doesn't have the same issue. For being over 60 years old your response was very immature and typical.

Sadly the internet is full of those types. They settle for mediocrity in quality and mock those who have higher standards when it comes to cooling Db or blurry game settings. I constantly complain about games that won't let you turn off smudge and blur like motion blur and film grain and get told I have overly sensitive visuals. I take that as a compliment. I don't want my games to simulate having eye cataracts and glaucoma, nor do I want my video cards sounding like miniature jet engines. Good to see Jacob and other evga techs are acknowledging the issue and have released a fix

Motion Blur and Film Grain are terrible. They are easy to add effects that developers use to "hide" flaws in the graphics of their games. The worst is Chromatic Aberration but thankfully many dev's are letting us disable it now. I don't want to derail the thread too much. Cya around :)
