Not sure why but after installing my 980 and installing driver 344.11 (clean install not upgrade) the DSR option in the Nvidia Control panel under Global Settings cannot be changed from "off". When I click it to display the drop down menu there is no drop down menu of various resolutions at all. I have tried installing even the beta 344.16 driver with no differences. In case it's of any importance my monitor is the Asus VG248QE and runs at 144hz. I've adjusted the refresh rate to 120hz, 100hz and 60hz and this does not affect anything.

As mentioned, when I click the drop down arrow beside "DSR - Factors" nothing actually happens. Weirdly though, clicking the down arrow beside this option on makes my cursor teleport under the options box. Also, no slider is present to adjust scalings. The DSR - Smoothness is completely greyed out which I assume is because the option is set to off.

It seems like it's a driver glitch or if I'm missing some step. I did a live chat with an Nvidia rep and he said it can't be enabled it the global settings which makes no sense. He said I have to enable it only within GeForce Experience. He also said my desktop cannot be set to a DSR resolution resolution higher than native resolution. This is clearly false since people are currently setting 4K resolutions on their desktops with DSR enabled.

I tried using a driver cleaner called Display Driver Uninstaller DDU 13.2.0.0 and while it removed everything driver related it didn't resolve my issue. When searching through GFE, and going through the game optimizations I did see DSR resolutions listed if I allowed it to optimize a few of my games. When I allowed it to optimize a game with a DSR resolution it changed a few things in my Nvidia Control Panel. Now beside DSR - Factors its show 2.00x and 4.00x native resolutions. Also, it now shows 33% as the smoothness beside the DSR - Smoothness option.

HOWEVER... These options cannot be altered in any way when I try to open either of these pre-sets in the Global Settings. Clicking the resolutions selected in the DSR - Factors again does nothing and no drop down box is displayed. And again, when trying to alter the 33% smoothness option in DSR - Smoothness no slider is available. Clicking on both of these options does what it did before which is teleport my mouse cursor a few inches lower.

While by fluke I seem to have enabled these 2 DSR resolutions this doesn't feel like it should be this difficult. And I'm still certain I should be able to enable and disable resolutions from the Nvidia Control Panel's Global Settings as well as adjust Smoothness from the there. 2 Options I seem to have no ability to adjust.

Something is seriously wrong here.

I am having the exact same problem.

The only similarity that I can see between our systems that could attribute to this problem would be that we both have 144hz monitors.

There's your answer right there.  It may only work at 120/60Hz.

Nope it's not the answer. As I mentioned in my original post I've adjusted the refresh rate to every setting and it makes no difference.

I tried with my old monitor an got the same result.
I guess that the 144Hz monitor is not the problem, I would like to here if other owners of the EVGA GTX980 SC are having this problem.

    Wow, interesting..
    And yes, I'm on Windows 8.1 x64.

Wondering now if it's just a driver bug.

Yeah I am seeing a pattern here, did a dual boot of windows 7 & 8 on my test machine and sure enough 7 works fine and 8 doesn't work and this is on the same machine so it has to be driver/software.

Hmm.. I have to imagine there's many others running 8.1 as well though. But it doesn't seem widespread. I don't get it. And I doubt Nvidia will investigate. I did sumbit a driver bug for this with no response. Also posted this same problem on their support forums where someone else is having the same issue.

Not everyone with the error will say anything or even stop to notice it. I didn't even have a clue how to turn on DSR till someone told me, I thought it was just a default thing. I am sure there are a lot of people running 8.1 but a lot of people don't post they just google for a fix. Right now I'd just post it over with nvidia also and see if you find more people with 8 having the same problem or also post it on reddit. Hopefully they will have an updated driver this weekend.

You wouldn't believe this but someone suggested a fix and it worked... You need to disable the Windows Mouse Option "Automatically move pointer to the default button in a dialog box" under Mouse in Control Panel.

That's because DSR isn't supported with SLI yet (as per Nvidia).

Wow, this trick works for me! Incredibly simple, but it actually works on my EVGA GTX970 SC! Thx for sharing.

The DSR options in Nvidia Control Panel are working for me in Win 8 Pro with twin EVGA GTX 980 SC's in SLI.  I have the 'Factors' set to 4X and the 'Smoothness' set to 100%.

Are you running a custom resolution?  I have a message at the bottom of the screen that says to run custom resolutions, one has to turn off the DSR.
