The newest version of Precision X seems to not allow me to DISABLE the boost clock. I have a Superclocked card from EVGA and Elite Dangerous apparently has an issue that causes the Nvidia drivers to crash any time the boost clock is enabled. Can someone please show me with a screen show how the hell to disable the factory overclock + boost in the newest version of EVGA precision X? This is what I am currently looking at

Hit 'Default' but from there you are going to have to reduce the GPU Clock offset, at the start reduce by -5Mhz until you reach the speed you desire David

That doesn't disable the boost, that only sets it to the default settings, which a superclocked boost card already has boost default enabled. I've already downclocked 180Mhz just to get the card to not go over 1200. I'm wonder if there is a way I can disable the GPU boost at all.

Nope. GPU Boost is "built in" by NVIDIA. You can disable GPU Boost by tinkering with a program called NVIDIA inspector, or you can simply downclock the card to accomplish pretty much the same thing.

That is the only way you are going to drop it down unless you start modifying the GPU Bios! doesn't seem worthwhile having a good card if you have to limit it so much, maybe get a lesser card and swap over when you want to play David

You can't disable gpu boost using precision/nvidia inspector. You can only disable gpu boost by modifying the vBIOS on the card.

You used to be able to with NVIDIA Inspector. No longer?

I've never seen that option anywhere inside nvidia inspector. Where exactly was it located before?

Bios mod was what I was afraid of. It's just one game and for some reason either Nvidia or Frontier isn't bothering on fixing it. Driver crashing is annoying. I narrowed it down to the boost thing (as did some other people.) Obviously the clock is stable in every other game and all benchmarks.

It's not really an "option" or setting exactly. It was done by fiddling with the performance states and underclocking or overclocking individual performance states so that the frequency stayed constant regardless of which state you jumped to.

That's not for disabling gpu boost. What you're talking about is for preventing throttling when the card changes performance states when throttling.

You cannot disable the boost clock, you can however set a negative offset which will act the same way.

It effectively disables GPU boost if you do it correctly. You just have to do testing and offset the boosted frequency with negative values.

I just got this Elite Dangerous and I have absolutely no problems with it and the GTX 980 so think you need to look elsewhere David

Actually David, after talking to a lot of people over at the Frontier forums, there seems to be an issue with the Elite Dangerous software and factory overclocked and manually overclocked GPUs and voltage regulation. They're looking into it. I usually use MSI afterburner but when I thought that might be the cause of the crash I deleted it (and it's app data and temp file sources) and installed EVGA precision X. Thanks for your contribution to the discussion though. Edit- apparently I cannot insert hyperlinks. OK THEN, well there IS a discussion over there about it. Look up "Elite Dangerous causes Nvidia driver to crash"

Actually! I have both a CPU and GPU overclocked and NO issues with the game at all David
