We'll see how he reacts to my pointing out in that bitcoin.talk thread he's active in,  that as a dev his actions are ticking folks off.

I am no longer the friendly FAH competition - thank Vorsholk and his ABUSE of his Curecoin developer position for that.
I no longer MOO due to abuses by certain "whales" in the Gridcoin community - so I now work the Distributed.net project directly again.

Ok back to staking.  So with you people and your massive amount of cure in your wallets..after you reach the 90 days, and your cure stops staking, do you just start sending cure back and forth from an exchange to yourself so that you can start staking again, and wait the 30 days required?

It stops after 90 days 0_o... I assumed that the whole point of staking was to accumulate coin and not spend them...

CureCoin’s Proof of Stake mintage begins in 30 days, and maxes out in 90. While your stake is higher the closer you get to 90, you may find better returns by regularly minting closer to 30 days.

Right from their staking page.

I wonder if by "max out" the mean at that point its as likely to earn a stake as one that a year old...

Yes.  All in the effort to make the coin harder for everyone else to get, to try and make the coin higher in price.

Which has no logic to it, as the coins STILL get created and spent at the same rate.
His actions are NOT going to have a significant effect if ANY on the price, they are only going to affect the PROFITABILITY and the ability of some of us to be able to AFFORD to fold instead of mine.
His actions have ALREADY dropped that profitability to pretty much BREAK-EVEN with mining ZEC.

It's the old "miners affect the price" fallacy that I thought only COMPLETE NOOBS believe in.

The real effect of his continuing growth of his MEGAFARM is to make Curecoin AND FOLDINGCOIN BOTH quite a bit less profitable for the rest of us, and drive some of us OUT OF FOLDING ENTIRELY because we can't AFFORD to put up with that particular stupidity.
I brought this up with him a couple weeks back - only to not get replied to for a very long time and then get completely blown off.
That sort of attitude issue out of a DEVELOPER pushed me to the point I am in the process of pulling completely out of [link=mailto:Folding@Home]Folding@Home [/link]and refuse to have anything to do with it for the forseeable future IF EVER AGAIN.
(Stanford's frequent never-fixed repeat issues and "don't care about them" attitude didn't help any).

Given the fact that Team Curecoin PPD has been DROPPING for the last couple weeks or so when you subtract Vorshalk's farm, it would appear I'm not the only one ticked off about this garbage.

I have better things to do with my machines than to subsidise developer ABUSE.

One more point to consider - given how much money his "described" rig builds have to be costing him (At least 100 SINGLE GPU MACHINES, and that's assuming each has a 1080 ti - if they are 1070 based more like 150 machines SO FAR), if he really wanted to help raise the price why not just BUY a few $1000 worth of Curecoin instead, which WOULD raise the price.

As part of that point - where is he getting the MONEY to do this? Rough ballpark estimate he has at LEAST $100,000 invested SO FAR in this farm of his - has he been using part of the 10% "reserved for development in the beginning" CURE to FUND this farm?

It's not like Ed, who is KNOWN to have a high-paying "investment company executive" type job and has grown HIS farm over the course of several years....

I am no longer the friendly FAH competition - thank Vorsholk and his ABUSE of his Curecoin developer position for that.
I no longer MOO due to abuses by certain "whales" in the Gridcoin community - so I now work the Distributed.net project directly again.

I agree Vorsholk is seriously tainting the team by his actions.  He doesn't seem to care as he claims it's all about the folding for the cure, but in reality, it seems to be all about them trying to hoard as many coins before they burn off their stock before curecoin 2.0.  If he's not answering your questions on bitcointalk forums, that is pretty callous of him and shows he really doesn't care about how his actions are being seen.  I can't believe he's ramped up production even more that he is now doing over 100 million ppd.

The over 100 mil ppd was an inflated avg due to stanford stat server issues. But yea I agree that we shouldn't be forced to compete with developers.

I would really like to know where he is renting this power from.  Everywhere I have looked you can not get it for the price he has apparently claimed he is getting it for.  Even AWS services is not available for that cheap.

Well I would say if he is not answering the bitcoin talk thread, make a thread on reddit in /r/curecoin.  Someone else already did and it made some traction.  If more people complain maybe he'll turn it off.  Though I doubt it.  It really seems like he is trying to gain coin prior to the burn off of cure coin 1.0 before cure coin 2.0 is implemented.

Curecoin just released an updated Wallet v1.9.4.1 yesterday that gives better staking info as well as an easy menu option to unlock your wallet to start staking.

Yes I like how it gives you a calculation on how likely you are to gain anything from your current stake.  But it still doesn't tell you how many coins you have staked or the like.  Ah well.  It's a start I guess.

Re: CURE PoS Minting 2017/10/21 08:26:03 (permalink)
i just learned a new important detail to how PoS works, take a loot at this example: https://chainz.cryptoid.info/cure/tx.dws?630579.htm. above it was said that 90 days is the max time to mature but every time a transaction gets staked its timer gets reset to 0 days. this is because the transaction was 'sent' once more as an output to your wallet with the added stake reward and sometimes it will even get halved to two separate transactions, like in the example. i do not know what qualifies a transaction to be split in two sometimes and not others but it is not related to the amount as this stake was only 17.5 CURE and got split.

i have also noticed that the amount received from staking is correlated to how large of a transaction that is being staked. if you look at my two examples again you can see that the larger transaction earned a lot more from stake than the smaller one. though this isn't the only factor as there are some with the same transaction amount with just a little more or a little less than others of the same amount. i assume that time since the last block is the second factor here and the longer it's been the larger the reward will be to stake.

these have been my observations from watching my wallets stake over the last few months and hope it helps others understand it a bit more.

Well to necro this thread, I finally had a HUGE POS happen today, on 1342 coins, and it only got me a whopping 4.4 coins for proof of stake.  It's seriously not worth it for anyone who doesn't have at least 50k coins to even have POS.  This is ridiculous.  I figured there would at least be a 1% POS, as it was halved, but at 4.4 coins for 1342 staked, that's not even 0.5%, it's a horrible 0.3%.  What a joke!

Well this is all about to change here soon. With the public test-net of the new PoS rules and removal of ASIC being released just the other day. this is testing the code for rewards to be increased and the mature time to be slashed from a month to just a few days. So I would assume that in the next couple weeks that will be officially released.

I'll never understand how IRC, the home of script kiddies, is now seen as a professional thing to do.  It makes no sense.  NONE.  It's like saying tagging is the best way to advertise.

Slack is the professional tool used to communicate within a company but discord offers virtually the same thing targeted to the normal joe. So how is having instant chat with thousands that is easily searchable, pinable, and filled with a lot more features than the barebones basic IRC a bad thing? It's nearly like a forum but in real time.

Slack is Twitter for small groups (or large ones). IRC was the way to communicate for geeks and nerds before it became the domain of script kiddies.

Discord is just another way of many to keep in touch with your community. It's up to how you run it as to how professional it is.

Discord, slack, IRC, they're all just tools - and all get equally well used or disused depending on the specific community.
Twitter would also fall into that category, but it's a lot more limited in many ways.
