For people who want Air cooler I always recommend only Noctua NH-U9S or NH-D9L.
Nothing else. 
 
Look example their size on ATX Motherboard... 

 
They could be turned in different direction depend of airflow, no problems with memory heatsink.
NH-D9L is easier for installation, but NH-U9S could work with 2 fans up to 2000RPM.
They are not loud but with resistor they are perfect.  
 
They are perfect for people who still want to stay with air coolers but in normal size and want normal overclocking.
Not system to struggle on edge of stability, best overclock is when you get 20-30% performance improvements and CPU work in conditions similar to default without too much voltage, without too much heat...
With both of them any i7 could work overclocked on some nice frequency. 
I would like to see how they deal with i7-5960X on 4.0GHz.
I think with normal and safe temps even on 4.2GHz but not over that.

So they built cases that can't fit a lot of coolers seems kinda bad for them. And no front bays for DVD burners lol what was behind this lol

well for a micro case this is nothing abnormal. extremely small cases have limited options for coolers and its nice they offer a list.
 
as for the DVD Burner its very simple. The DG-87 is an enthusiasts case and enthusiasts no longer use them. they are an archaic and out dated piece of tech that flash drives, online backups, redundant NAS systems have made them useless. even OS's can be installed with a flash drive and that was the only time i used my last DVD Burner, installing Vista. and if you just HAVE TO HAVE one for use once every other month or two externals are very common and get the job done. why do you think they make laptops without them? they too see them as a useless piece of tech that is not relevant to the majority of their consumers.
 
that said HTPC is a special use case as all media is on Discs. which simply means the DG-87 is not a HTPC, but who would want such a large PC under their TV... it would dwarf most TV's making them look tiny and distracting.

Not sure what all that means nas system? I use the burners to back up stuff and for certain programs and home movies for family. I use USB for most but not all still would have been good for them to have a case with that option.

a NAS system is Network Attached Storage system. this way you store/backup everything on a RAID array, for redundancy backup in case of drive failure, located somewhere in the house and then any PC on your home network can connect to it and access files/movies on it.

Hi everyone, "First Post". 
I am interested in the EVGA DG-8 series case, the DG-87. 
I will be installing the GIGABYTE GA-X99-Designare EX (rev. 1.0) mainboard.
My question is about the depth of the case for cpu cooler.
I want to install a Cooler Master MasterAir Maker 8.
The dimensions for this cooler are: 5.31 x 5.70 x 6.77 inches
Will this work in this case?
