How bad will my i7-4770k bottleneck the new RTX-3060TI?

I am planning an upgrade, but am I going to need it immediately or could I make do until mid 2021?

Thanks

You should be OK at higher resolutions that are less dependent on the CPU. But you're basically at end of usefulness with it. Look to upgrade it in 2021 after all this supply issue craziness stops.

I am running triple monitors at 5760x1080 @60Hz sooo... lol

That was my hope. To wait for Alder Lake to be released in the 2nd half of 2021.

I've been trying to work out if I should wait until I upgrade the CPU or if I would get a worthy performance boost to carry me through with the bottlenecked 3060.

No way to know for sure I know, just trying to get more voices in my head other than my own.

    Thanks for the input,
    Terry

Yeah, not really going to have CPU bottleneck issues at that resolution.

Rocking a 4790K myself, if you hold off long enough I'm pretty sure you will be happy with Zen 4 anyhow!

Yeah I've never personally owned a high end AMD machine. I've built and maintained tens if not over a hundred or so cookie cutter business builds.

I've never had an issue with AMD per se, but I never really liked their driver deployment methods.

Honestly it was probably all due to my unconscious belief in AMD's inferiority, rather than any realized problems.

That being said I still feel, rationally or not, uncomfortable with AMD so I doubt I ever dip my toes in anything more than a business or budget build.

Bottleneck Calculator (and 'Can You Run It?' for games) for what it's worth..Can't enter a CPU overclock and there's no RTX 3060 Ti listed, but an RTX 3070 bottlenecks that CPU quite a bit, of course.

Wow, cool tool. Even looks reasonably accurate!
