Hey guys, so I have a 3080 that I water-cooled about a year ago.

However, a week ago, I needed to do some maintenance and had to clean out my GPU block.

Unfortunately, I think I may have used the wrong screw size on some parts of block as the screw went into the board and now my card no longer works. I know the warranty doesn’t cover accidental damage but I really don’t want to (nor can I really even afford) to purchase a new GPU. I guess I’m maybe asking for some help as I don’t think I’ll get approved for rma.

I'm sorry to hear that.  It's hard to offer advice without information.  A picture would be a good start.

Cleaning a block should never be necessary.  With good coolant, with anti-corrosive properties, stable, and pure, the block should not deteriorate or plug up with stuff. Don't use harsh chemicals, don't "flush" your system, don't use vinegar, don't mix your own coolant, don't add other additives or colors, use a high quality coolant, and change the coolant according to the manufacturer's recommended schedule, and this sort of problem can be avoided in the future.

Hey, thanks for your reply. I agree that you shouldn’t usually have to clean a block and I use distilled water with anti-corrosion and growth inhibitors mixed in so I’m not sure what happened but with a GPU this expensive Im never water cooling it again. If I get lucky and they replace it Im sticking to stock, its too expensive and watercooling benefits are not worth this trouble.

Would you happen to have the original cooler for the card? Trying to put that on and seeing if you get anywhere would be a good place to start to see if it's dead. Unfortunately. if a screw went into the board it's probably going to be rejected for board damage.

You may be able to reach out to someone like NorthridgeFix or another repair shop closer to you and see if they can repair what's broken at a price you can afford.

Hello and thank you for taking time to respond to my post. Yes I do have the original cooler. I put it back to factory and everything lights up but the card is unfortunately dead. Yes that's actually what I'm worried about. It sucks because I don't actually even game that much cause of school but I also spent so much time money and effort on my PC these last few years that I'd hate for it to become essentially useless for heavy load projects because I can't afford another card. I'll just create an RMA and see if I get lucky or something.

Hey, I appreciate that link. I'm familiar with this place as I've seen their videos, they do good work. I already went ahead and sent them an email just in case my RMA gets rejected. Thanks for providing that link.

A picture sure would help.  It could be an easy repair.  I can't give an opinion though without details.

As you can see from the photo, The bottom right LR22 has a slight crack in it.

No, I can't really see that in the photo.  It seems like the photo is resized and low quality.

If all that is wrong is that the inductor is cracked (LR22), that should be super easy for anyone with soldering experience to replace.

I apologize, this was the only way to upload the photo. Well since it speculated as of now as a easy repair, hopefully EVGA will lenient enough to just replace it for me for that reason. I'll keep y'all updated on the result.

I'm aware that EVGA happens to have some of the best customer service which is like one of the biggest reasons I've only ever bought EVGA and have told many others to buy EVGA. So I do have some hope.

Otherwise as previously mentioned, 3rd party repair is your only option if EVGA decides not to repair the card.

Thanks for your response. I'd have to agree with you, I think 3rd party repair would be the next best option. We will see what happens.

I just hope EVGA will help me out a bit even though I think the damage is technically my fault ngl. I just don't have the ideal situation to just go buy another GPU.
