Hi, my corsair power supply hx1050 was giving me trouble, randomly shut off. Ordered an EVGA Supernova 850 G3. Well after trying cables, tried every combination or cable and such I had to send back to Amazon. Anyways I reinstalled the old one and no trouble yet. But that isn't the issue.

Everything boots fine, got into windows. All was well, but the video kept turning black, 5 or so seconds, black again in a loop. So my first though, use ddu, wipe the drivers. Here's where I got lost, not once did it black screen in safe mode. So I boot into windows, install only the driver, no geforce experience or junk. Reboot, black screens. So i just thought lets see if it might be a driver issue or something. I boot up and with no video drivers, start surfing the web. Not one black screen, multiple drivers all do the black screen.

    Hello vaath,

What was the original issue with your corsair power supply? was it similar to this one your experiencing?

It could be a video card issue instead, do you have onboard video? If so, try using that to troubleshoot.

If the card is going in/out of a black screen every 5 seconds or so then it sounds like you may have a faulty display cable, faulty video card output, or faulty monitor input.

Generally speaking if the GPU operates in VGA mode without the driver loaded but enters a crash loop when using using the 3D accelerated display drivers, the GPU is faulty.

I would check all the cables first and replace them. Then if that’s doesn’t work check and replace the screen. If this doesn’t work then it must be a faulty GPU

Try changing your desktop background to something else....Sounds silly I know, but that resolved the blackscreen issue for me. :)

I dunno if it means anything, I completly spaced out when doing the trouble.I am attaching a link of what I see on bootup at the bottom.  Ya, dummy me.

Next I plan on trying the onboard video card, see how that goes. I know little but if it was a cable wouldn't I have had trouble when I first installed a year ago? Same video card, same monitor.

As always I really do appreciate the help :)   havgood day :)

Sorry I messed up, haven't really figured out attached photo's LOL

Looks like you tried to start the cue software with the drivers uninstalled.

ahh ok, you mentioned cables, i need atleast a quality hdmi for the integrated any other machines i need to test where can i got a not to expensive expensive, good  cable If it works with integrated then it is either the video card or the monitor, or ports right? With the HDMI I can test it on  the integrated, video card , and laptop.

Sorry I am acting a little "slow" didn't sleep well.

Sajin seems really good with any  cable suggestions :)

    Thank you sajin

If you're already using an hdmi cable then I would suggest using the same cable on the igpu.

Glad you stuck with me Sajin.

As promised I have an update, gone an hour with no black screens, gonna try out games in a few. Drivers are loaded up with no signs of issue. I am using the HDMI cable you picked out for me. I had previously tried all 3 DP ports on the video card. Leads me to a bad DP port on the monitor maybe? TBH I am just fine with HDMI if I am stuck with it. So I guess there really might be nothing wrong with the video card itself?

    Thanks Sajin!

Yep, either all the dp ports are bad, the dp cable you used is faulty, or the monitor has a bad input.
