Bioshock will need 3 DVDs to install which will result in 30+GB of disk space.  Let's hope the high res textures are as "jaw dropping" as the developer claims.

I have a 512 Gig main SSD so big games don't bother me. However we heard the claims that DE:HR would have awesome graphics for the PC and look how THAT turned out.

Am I the only one who thinks high res textures are kind or...idk, stupid? I feel like textures should be scaled with some algorithm of sorts. Its probably way harder than i think it is but I would think that would be awesome.

Yea Rage was ID's first attempt at Virtual Texture Technology where not a single texture throughout the whole game is the same, hopefully it will be better in Doom 4

Ah forgot about Rage. What didn't really help Edios's case with DE:HR was that they were claiming it would look so great on AMD\ATI cards. What a crock. Then there's id software who wanted to blame both Nvidia and AMD\ATI for having newer graphics cards which Rage couldn't run properly on. Was no ones fault but id's fault. Infinite does seem like a interesting game however after the graphical fiasco of those 2 WELL KNOWN game companies I am not putting my faith in any so called hires textures or awesome graphics....not yet anyways.

lol 3 discs...or one click on Steam.

Anyways, I see this a lot in recent games. Dragon Age 2, Sleeping Dogs, Skyrim and probably more I'm forgetting. Developers put out these 'high resolution' texture packs and it barely does anything.

I'm not saying this will be the case with Bioshock, but don't get too excited because it might be lame.

cool...but will the cut scenes be in low res?

Major peeve of PC gaming that I get stuck at times with Sub 720 cut scene.  Haven't seen to many games as of late do it since most likes to use the in game engine, but when they do...

    RIG 1 - i7-4790K / Asus Z97 Gryphon / AMD Sapphire RX Vega 64 / 8GB*8GB G.Skill Trident X 2400Mhz CL10 / SeaSonic Prime Ultra 1000w Plat
    RIG 2 - Pentium G3258 / ASRock Z97 Extreme9 / AMD XFX RX580 GTS XXX x4 / 8GB*8GB Kingston HyperX Fury 1600Mhz CL10 / Corsair AX1200i

Max Payne 3 has 1080p cut scenes, first one I ever saw that did which explains why its a 30GB game.

One of the BIGGEST and number one complaints and rightfully so with SWTOR was that Bioware used highres textures during cutscenes but stuck to crappy lowres textures outside of the cutscenes. Of course their entire budget did go towards the "wonderful" voice acted dialogs and such in that game so yea go figure.

That's why I havent bought a SSD and probably wont until I can get at least a 1Tb SSD for ~$200. You can have all the speed in the world but it wont do you any good if you dont have the capacity. I do see SSD's eventually replacing platter drives in the future, just takes time.

yea I see your point, but the reverse side of that is I can use my older smaller SSD's as OS drives/programs/temporary download drives when the bigger ones become cheaper to install games on, and I won't need my 1Tb standard installed anymore, will be running all SSD's 100%.

So they won't be completely useless, its still a win/win
