I'm going with the Gainward GTX 580 Phantom. Those heat pipes are killer.

^^ thats very cool, Blue and Black is my favorite color theme too so that would go good with my setup.

The only downside though is it looks like it takes up 4 slots.

Ya, and the extra two slot heatsink is above the card, not below it.  So PCIe slot 1 would generally be out of the scenario and PCIe slot 3 would be the standard slot.

It also doesn't bode well with your micro mini cases which allow two slots standard.
    However:
". . . the second module is optional, and is only recommended if the operating environment is warm, or if the end user is overclocking."
    Is does look pretty slick

Meh, those 480esque  heatpipes are an eye sore.  I like low profile cards, H20 I guess,  but they don't really have personality.  I guess a card with vapor chamber is nice.

I must show 5 models and start from last place...
    5. ASUS EAH5870 V2

    4. EVGA GTX680 Classified 4GB

    3. EVGA GTX 680 4GB Classified HydroCopper

    2. EVGA GTX580 3GB Classified HydroCopper

    1. FIRST AND BEST CARD I EVER SEE
    EVGA GTX580 3GB Classified Ultra

I still can't explain how I love this card and how I wished this model exactly...
This card is simple peace of art...
Between 2nd and 3rd place I can't decide really both cards are excellent and just like I love 580 Classy HC and 680 Classy HC...
But let stay like this but both can be 2nd and 3rd...

I still have this one, although I removed the stickers - and was planning on making some BFG & nVidia logos to place where they had been. Then the internal SLI connector went out and I went with dual-SLI GTX 580 SC EVGA cards, so it's just sitting in an anti-static bag now :

Don't attract me at all. Motherboard I can swallow, some of them, but ROG graphics, NEVER.
But and 90% of motherboard I don't wish like some designers miracle.
Example I would change ROG 580 Matrix for EVGA 580 3GB stock, always.
For Classified, I would pay extra money plus.

I think you're missing the point of the thread.  It's about the look especially in an era of mass producing in the reference designs on both AMD and nVidia camps.

Frankly, the EVGA 580 Classified on air is very ugly.  (technically, it takes to much power with no justifiable benefit)

I few older cards have what I used to regard as nice looking heatsinks and casing (since we aren't really talking about the graphics card itself).
    • GTX580 HC (for respecting single-slot, GTX680 doesn't with stacked DVI; if I ever get into SLI, single-slot provision must be there)
    • 8800 Ultra (the offset fan was was elite, if it were bigger it would have worked out well)
    • 7900GTX also looked elite (not until GTX590 and GTX690 was that large axial fan between two heatsinks used again)

    • Radeon X1800 (I still can't figure out which end is the intake, but I do like the pure white)
As for my own graphics cards, I altered the heatsink and went the unpopular and strange route:
    • GTX260 with a pair of Thermalright HR-03's with a 72W Peltier in between, idle/load = 27/41C, overclocked GPU from stock 576MHz to 700MHz.
    • 7900GT with a CPU cooler on it, Asetek VapoChill Micro, overclocked from stock 560MHz to 691MHz-- 23% was unheard of on anything but watercooling back then.  Talking about the Mod on these forums earned my first BR.

Re:Best looking graphics card of all time? 2013/01/30 23:11:22 (permalink)
Few things, I hate how the PCB looks, its just ugly IMO and yes I'm a sucker for aesthetics, so the prettier the better IMO.  Also most of the time I hate how reference coolers look but since the GTX400/HD5000 series they have gotten better.

AMD HD7970/Ghz reference cooler reminds me of a older 1950ish American hot rod.  Its just cooler looking.  I know it doesn't cool well, nor is it quiet, I just find it very attractive.

Nvidia's 8800Ultra.  The jewel of its day and something I wish i could afford.  Still to this day the reference cooler looks awesome and the card looks beefy.

EVGA's GTX295 Red Edition and pretty much all GTX295 reminds me of VHS tapes

EVGA's unreleased GTX680 2Win Gemini.  GK104 4GB + GK104 4GB that Nvidia shut down:(  I thought the 680 Classified looks ugly in pictures since the blower style cooler, but when you have one in your hands its a beast of a card.  I'm sure the 2Win Gemini would've also been a beast of a card if it made it to production.

This is where the Asus ROG train starts.  In the looks department no one else does it better than Asus.  They really are for a large corporate like company likes to carter to the Enthusiast market.  Which I very much appreciate that they are keen to make things look great and fits the themes of their MOBO also.  I used own the old X38 ROG mother board that used to be the brown white orange color theme with RG Cube that mimicked the GameCube's logo.  I'm kind of happy they got away from that and is now delivering us the Red/Black theme with the ROG eye.

How can anyone dislike the MARS II?  It was Asus flexing its engineering muscles and fixing Nvidia's problems with the GTX590.  Also the beastly 3Slot design (Which I think its retarded on the DC GTX680 series.  Seriously **** Asus?) with the huge cooler to cool thos Fermi chips

Asus Matrix GTX580.  I know I said I hate having the PCB exposed but I'll let it slide for this one and its younger sibling.  Its just so sexy and how they finished it off in that pinkish/red hue and black with the ROG eye.  Just a very sexy cooler design.

Asus Matrix HD7970.  Just like its older sibling this one is just a beefy shroud design and the light up Matrix lights is a nice touch too.

The King of reference design cooler.  Only real reason why I purchased this card.

Sapphire Toxic X1950XTX.  Before everyone wanted to get into the WC crazy from the factory.  I mean its seriously cool.

EVGA Classified is much better than ROG Matrix.
AMD Series 7xxx is copy of Fermi 580 Stock, but Fermi is nicer, that is best stock cards ever.
Much much nicer than stock Kepler.  Special 580 stock and 570 Classified look fantastic.

Wish Asus just used Bits Power to make them a custom water block in ROG fashion, instead of making that abomination.

You are right, this ARES I everywhere see reviews and topics and always jump over that and continue, like don't exist. I only see picture aand I don't know nothing more except 2xHD7970 and more than 8+8 pin connectors.

We forgot one of best non stock cards, 2 slot, new design, absolutely fantastic, not like Classified but excellent

Noo I don't like GTX680 FTW example, and stock and EVGA GTX690 and few others, but what to do when I love right edges, not sharp, 2 slots card not fat and Classified, that's it. I only say but Example FTW model...nooo. That's my taste.

I mean if you see I look on that like graphic cards, caaaard not cardzilla, not turtle and not cardformers.
Simple one or two slot nice design computer part for people whop won't to hold card in hand and imitate space ship running throw room buuuuuuiuuuuuu, aaaaaaa, fuuuuuuu....simple graphic card.
Example I will say ASUS Fermi GTX580 stock is nice card too.

I'm old school.  XFX 7950GT Fanless.

I know, it doesn't fit the exactly "pretty" look of modern cards, but this was back in the day of single slot coolers that had screaming fans rivaling hair dryers.  I had a pair of these in SLI and, I have to admit, it was nice to look in the case and see all that chrome from the heatsinks.

Also singed my fingers a few times removing them to clean dust out...

I always liked the steam punk look.  Really liked that Calibre pic above.  This MSI Cyclone always really jumped out at me.  Not so much elegant, but comes off as raw.

I can't choose just one.  The 8800 Ultra stands out:

    EVGA 9800GTX and 9800GTX+

    EVGA 9800GX2

    EVGA GTX 295

    EVGA GTX 580 Classified

    And now the Titan.
