Hey guys, simple question here. I'm moving tomorrow and don't have the boxes for my hard drives anymore. Would it be best to just leave them in the case? It's about a 2 hour drive there. Just a couple tips on how to move the hard drives without them getting damaged would be mucho appreciated . Thanks in advance!

Just leave them in the case. I have shipped computers, even my own from Japan to the East Coast. My brother who is in college during holidays when he goes home transports his rig in his car. The HDD's will be just fine. I have also moved mine in the trunk of my car from my current location to northern Michigan and back which is about a 1100 mile drive.

Yeah just don't beat the crap outta them, and you'll be fine. They won't have any issues though. Mainly just don't wanna bump them while spinning, which obviously they shouldn't be powered on while travelling in your car. :p

Aslong as your HDD isnt spinning your not going to have an issue. Ive moved my PC back and forth between houses a few times. Ive always just kept them in the case and havent had an issue yet. I also drove down to florida from massachusetts about a year ago and took my PC with me because i was staying there for a few months. The only thing i took out of case was my gpu and cpu cooler, but that was just to take some stress of the mobo. PC manged to survive the 1200mile drive there and back no problem.

Thank you all for the quick responses! I'll just leave it in the case then. My biggest issue now is that I lost my mounting screws for my H100 . Now I'm going to have to buy the complete kit just for 4 stupid screws.

If you don't plan to mount it through a fan just get something that is short enough to go through the case and get to the radiator that is 6/32 thread. Or try emailing them and see if they will mail you some. Buying another one seems ridiculous just for 8 screws.

Hard drives can take a few g's while off before they have any issues. If you get in an accident they might be screwed.

Unfortunately it wasn't those screws that I lost. It's the 4 converter screws for LGA2011 that you screw into the motherboard instead of using a bracket. I have to buy the kit. I guess it's not too bad considering it's only $16, but thanks for letting me know what size the fan and radiator screws are. I'm actually short 4 and I've been running my bottom two fans with only 2 screws each .
