I haven't played a Battlefield game on PC since college, and that was BF2 on a roomie's machine. BF3&4 were great, but then we had BF1&V--which play a little too much like Battlefront and Call o' Dookie, respectively. I do like some of the new-ish mechanics added in those, but the short-lived novelty of running around with antique vehicles and equipment just doesn't do it for me. The damage model is typical casual bullet-sponge stuff with a few realistic behaviors thrown in.
However, with the right squad of buddies, even the worst games can be fun. (I'm looking at you, MW.)
