That's what I was saying in my post above. The Performance column for the 13900KS is what you'll get using the New Intel Default settings (253W). But Intel allows you to override those settings if you want. If you disable the Intel Default settings and use whatever EVGA calls their optimized default setting, you're likely to see 320W. I don't use an EVGA board so I can't test this myself, but you guys using EVGA's Z790 boards can easily verify things.

I know on my ASUS board running the latest MCU, the Intel default settings show 253W max. When I switch to ASUS Optimized Defaults, all those voltages and wattage limits are higher.

Turning off the default actually lets it go in excess of 320w (ran a quick Cinebench R23 run and it hit 350w), so neither are the Extreme settings.

Makes sense actually. Adding in the "new" Intel default settings in the MC update restricted the power limits to Intel's actual default. When you turn off the Intel default, most or all  power settings go back to how things were prior to the whole Intel debacle. That's how it seems to me anyway based on my own testing.

Yeah, that's my point. There should be an Intel "Performance" default and an "Extreme" default.

Yeah, in this case Extreme means "let'r rip".   Basically unlimited or whatever the CPU wants to use.  Maybe EVGA will figure something out for you guys. On my ASUS board if I don't want those Intel defaults, I disable them and then set voltage and amperage limits.

You can just disable intel default then set the power limit. The new BIOS also updates the microcode, exposes IA CEP, GT CEP, Undervolt Protection, Unlimited ICCMAX option, and short/long power limits.

You don't understand what the issue is here. You can certainly do what you are suggesting but the matter of the fact is that BIOS should default to EXTREME PROFILE by default as it's recommended by INTEL for KS models of CPU.

I get that. But it's also a stupid table and Intel technically recommended both settings. There's also notes in some of the recommendations about if your cooling can handle the extreme profile and they'd have no way of knowing that. It'd be nice if Intel actually declared a default state for every cpu, but they haven't done that and it's been up to the motherboard vendors to just do what they want for years.

What I didn't get was that you're using an OC-targeted motherboard from a company that never was known to sell boards intended for any kind of "default settings" use and you're upset someone suggested manually setting something. We're lucky we're getting updates from EVGA at all given their current situation and state of affairs. I didn't think we'd even get a new microcode lol.

just for the record i can confirm that on Z790 ROG Extreme the intel extreme profile is present with all those settings and PL1 @320W (but anyway for an average 14900KS @stock clock and even undervolted you need at least 375W for a workload like CB23 and 400W+ for Y-Cruncher)

Hi @EVGATech_ChrisB, Do you think you will release BIOS to support the 14901ke? the 14th without E-cores, I was thinking of getting one, thanks in advance.
