Hello, I'm using a rather ancient MB, by PC standards anyway, Asus P8P67 PRO (REV 3.1) paired with an I5 2500k@4.3gig and a 970 FTW.

I have submitted for a step up to an ACX 1070. Does anyone know if the P8P67 PRO (REV 3.1) has any compatibility issues with the new pascal cards? I understand there will be bottlenecks, and I'm ok with that for now. Primarily looking for compatibility issues that would result in the card not functioning.

Thanks

Can't confirm for myself but i doubt it, i've seen various users post elsewhere about their 2500k with a 1080 so i'd be very surprised.

Why would you say 50/50 chance? It should be essentially 100% chance that it will work. The board has PCI-E 2.0 slots so there is no reason for it not to work. Yes, it might be bottlenecked slightly, but as long as he is only running the one at 16x then I just don't see how it would not work.

I'm interested to see some testing of this, GTX 10 series performance on PCI 2.0 vs 3.0. I have almost the same setup as the OP, exact same MOBO, but with a 2600k and a 970 SC. And I plan on stepping up to a 1070 SC. Well, I really had planned on stepping up to a 1070 FTW, but EVGA completely missed the mark with 1070 prices and decided to rip people off instead. 1080 FTW = $20 below FE pricing. 1070 FTW = $20 higher than FE pricing.

Considering PCI-E is backwards compatible, I don't see any reason it wont work....

The latest bios is from 2012. If the bios doesn't support the latest uefi standard the card may not work. It should work, but sometimes that doesn't always happen.

Hmmm, interesting. I have yet to see uefi screw up video cards, but I suppose there is a remote chance of it happening. I'd still bet on it working, but I do see the potential issue. Still more like 95% chance of working, not 50/50.

I'm using the P8P67 LE with i7-2600 (non-k cause i was a dumb). No noticeable issues with my 1080 FTW.

I have the Asus P8P67 Deluxe v3.0 I think with i5-2500k - cannot get ANY video - no flashes, no BIOS screen, no nothing on a GTX 1060 or 1070 (different manufacturers).  I updated the BIOS to the latest from 2012 - no luck AT ALL ;(

I'd like to report my step-up 1070 ACX arrived today. I used DDU in safe mode to uninstall the old drivers and installed my 1070.

I am more than happy with the results, they far exceeded what I had expected.

Same motherboard and cpu, same issue of no display with a 1070.

    Any luck getting it working?

im not sure if it was uefi problem (still to-date i have no clue what actually caused this) but after few years with the pre-build pc i had, i upgraded my 660ti to a 970 and it just wouldnt work. latest bios was in and still didn't help. i had to buy completely new mobo, cheap one and that worked. now im considering 1070 to throw in there and im still nervous because of that experience.

I have p8p67 deluxe and I remember to I had to configure PCI Express lane as legacy ROM or vice versa. then it would properly booted to OS or POST. if you don't know, then hit the BIOS reset button since correct way is the default way. now working smoothly with my gtx 1080 ftw.
