I've never seen 80C+ in any other games on my Ti Ftw3 but New World is roasting my card/PC... anyone else experiencing similar?

    Is it worth playing?

I'd give it a go and report back.

Stop playing it immediately. RMA if experiencing problems. May be the same card-killing thing that Halo MCC does.
Check nvidia subreddit for a link because this forum doesn't let me post.

I would recommend testing other games and then as said above look at what others are saying online. Sometimes a game is just more punishing on a GPU then it should and sometimes it's just not being optimized and is fixed with a patch for the game.

Yeah something strange appears to be happening with this game. Just ran into this thread.
Apparently it has killed some 3090's and what not. I have no idea if it's the same Halo and alike voltage spike issue or something different.

Can I post links already? If the above gets eaten, here's the rest without the reddit bit.

Second 3090 is dead. Unbelievable. Another RMA after 2 months. I'm so incredibly angry.

Yup, FTW3 Ultra. Loud pop, monitors turned off, 100% fan spin - rebooted, red light over power connectors, done.

Unacceptable. Absolutely unacceptable. There was a time when EVGA was the only brand I would recommend - what happened?

Basically, it is the menu and queue waiting screens that are the problem. The game doesn't limit the frame rate on those and it is basically like putting your car in neutral and pressing down on the gas pedal all the way. That motor is not going to last long. I played last night with my 3090 without issue because my monitor is limited to 120 FPS and the card was only being hit at about 70% usage.

so you have Vsync on? even if your monitor refresh rate has a limit the card can go above that....right? my tv is 60hz but my frame counter says 120 (frame cap settings in game cause I play on 144hz monitor as well.)

Its not only the menu and waiting screens.
I got a black screen + fans speeding up while walking around town yesterday.

Yes, I have vsync on. I have an Nvida Gsync monitor.

that will do it. just be careful, I have heard that even limiting frames doesn't make you 100% safe. I was super pumped on this game since I first heard about it early last year. but every time there is a alpha or beta evey one says its not good or even close to being what they advertised. I'm willing to bet this will be just like CP2077. it will release Aug of 2021 but won't be playable for at least 6-12 months. not risking my GPU or even $40 the way I did on CP2077

I wonder if this is a problem with EVGA FTW3 cards and the newest GeForce drivers. I've had my 3080 FTW3 Ultra since launch with no problems but yesterday while playing FFXIV, my system crashed and now it won't POST with my 3080 installed. I've been playing FFXIV and Warzone for the last couple of weeks (both of which push the card to 100% like normal) and have no issues. The only thing that's changed is I updated my drivers Monday night before I went to bed.

I haven't played New World but it just seems like a coincidence. I hope we don't see a large amount of cards failing.

    EDIT: Wrong New World thread!

I don't blame you. FYI, I have a higher tolerance for bad games apparently. I just finished CP2077 with over 100 hours in it and enjoyed it. No game I have played looks better especially with HDR on (I am a graphics whore).

I would power limit and undervolt my card if I were you but preferably I would say DON'T play this for now until the issues are resolved. And no you shouldnt be 80c+ even in middle of summer.

I played it about 5 hours. Was a blast and fun as hell. My 3080 sat around 50c 70s for mem and CPU would hit 60 sometimes.

Give it a shot is fun.

I did cap in game FPS to 60 and had no real graphics quality issues.

Played for a few hours last night on my FTW3 3090 HC.

Just to be safe I reset my Nvidia 3D setting overrides and capped the game at 60FPS. (Like what the New World support person said to do.) Just joined my original server (No queue time but it's the middle of a work day.) and in the middle of town with quite a few players, I'm getting a max of 38C.

Will continue playing to see what my highest temps are. Since I'm running custom watercooling, I just wanted to see what the temps for me were like. (Since a few people reported high temps even while under water.)
