Woke up and had 3 wu's waiting to send to that server with between 9 and 11 attempts.

This morning I killed yesterdays WU ... over 60 tries & never Connected --> never got to the x% ... Instant fail
 
After Finishing all work .... & Stopping FaH - I did yet another full reboot of the PC --> attempted with Finish command to get - just that WU to run & upload = No Joy
 
Shutdown FaH (Quit) - then cleared the Work Folder ---> back to Folding on that Rig with No issues
 
[ I saw 5 other WU to that server worked with No issues  ]
 
No Upload - Connect Errors - only lists those after a system reboot

Even after upgrading to the latest [link=mailto:F@H]F@H[/link] client beta, I'm still having issues with both upload and download connectivity. Usually once per day, I have to go through the following procedures to get my PC's back on track (Note: These suggestions are not specific in nature. I could add in screen shots and specific guidance, but then I'd be writing a book )
 
1. Go to folding at home "Advanced" tab.
2. Hit "finish" then "Pause" buttons -- wait for software to show "paused."
3. Close "Advanced" tab. Then, close the folding app.
4. Go to Windows "Start" menu, find "Folding at Home" tab, then scroll down to "work" folder. Open the folder and delete all contents. Close window afterward.
5. Next, delete "Users" and Windows "temp" folder contents ... NOT the tabs themselves. (I've been finding strange junk in there.)
6. Use "Windows Disk Cleanup" to clean out the Recycle Bin and other extraneous files not needed for PC operation.
7. This may sound strange ... not sure why this works ... but I open a new window to the website server page on folding.stanford.edu and leave it there while finishing the next steps.
8. Reopen folding app and use "Advanced" tab ... hit "Folding" button.
9. Wait for the folding program to connect to a work server and download a new job; this usually takes a couple minutes. If you don't get a new job right away, pause the program, wait a minute, and then reopen.
 
I am usually about 90% successful using the above procedure, and the whole process takes around 10 minutes to complete, usually once/day.
 
As far as the folding program "hanging" while trying to upload completed jobs to a collection server: I've had six recently-completed jobs "hang" while repeatedly trying to upload them to a collection server. Error messages such as "server didn't like work unit" show up. I've resorted to deleting these completions and starting the process outlined above. What a waste of electricity and donated PC time!
 
Hopefully, I can cease practicing computer voodoo soon, and it will be smooth sailing like the old days.
 

Both the send and the current working monster 13400 are for the same collection server

Unfortunately these server issues will not be fixed without a restructuring of the system.
Ideally, assign servers shouldn't collect at all. And there would be backup collection servers to account for downtime. Of course they could also reduce the assign rate thresholds as well to reduce stress on return units.
But currently the CS field is optional. Making it required and setting up a emergency accept all CS would be a great first step. But that still requires a lot of backend work to make happen.

I have had a couple on that server today send right away, i'm working on another one right now. I've been watching the last couple of days and all of mine have sent right away without issues from that server.  
Update, the WU just completed and uploaded to the server right away.

When this happens .... refuses to upload results after many, many tries (if the Server is reported to be operational)
 
Might be time to restart your Modem & Router & reboot your PC  [ everything eventually needs to be rebooted, for best performance]
 
 
 
Look at the "Client Advanced Control" --> now look under "Work Queue" --> Now Note the "ID number" of the offending slot (ID number in Red circle) --> Write it Down
 
 
 
 
Set your "Checkpointing frequency" to (3) min (minimum) & then Save    found under "Configure", then the "Advanced" tab
 
You will loose Less work when the "tar file gets made" ... because your going to Close & Quit FaH
 

 
NOW:     1 -  Pause All Slots       2 -  Close Client        3 - Quit FaH
 
 
 
Now go into the " Data Directory" & check the "Work" folder ....[ that non uploading Work Queue ID ] -  Remove it
 
      [ How to find -->  "Data Directory" --> Windows Start Button --> FaH --> Data Directory - you click on it - to open ]
 

 
 

 

 
 
OK, Now - Restart FaH - Set your Slots to Fold & now go back to "Checkpointing frequency" and set it back to the original number
 
 
Or, just set all slots to Finish - then when all slots have finished - Use Pause - Now Close Client - Now Quit FaH - then open "Work Folder" it should be empty Except for the Work that refuses to upload ... delete those files [Work Queue ID]
 
Restart Folding & set slots to  Fold

No idea why some Finished WU refuse to upload or even Connect ... while others upload to the same server with No Issues

I think massive file sizes are the result of errors logged by the core. Thus can cause the file size to balloon and get rejected by the CS.

I had two dead  dogs on 1080ti (2 waiting to send from 1 1080ti, 12 & 31 attempts) I did a reboot on the rig without closing anything and 1 went through on startup. hmmm

Woke up to having a problem with this specific server still today. 13 attempts to send. Project 16435.
 
EDIT: I have projects 14436 and 16433 about to finish and go to the same server. Will update later.
EDIT 2: Both those sent instantly.
