*sigh* I was barely able to upgrade to a 1060 card .... I wish there was a step up from that to the 1080TI card :-(

Pretty sure you can step up if your with in the time limits but you would just pay a bigger diffrence than say a 1070 or 1080 owner would

uhhhhh..... I just ordered a whole new build this past weekend and my gtx hydrocopper gtx 1080 will be here on the 3rd!! What do?????

you could see if where ever you ordered the hydrocopper has a return policy. but then you would be waiting for water block 1080ti cards to come out as its an unknown how soon they will

Ive been out of the market since i had dual 590s, so its been a very long time. I stayed on top of the gpu game from the nvidia 380s up to the 590s. I finally got the cash built up to build another solid machine to last me several yrs. So, im seeing the gpu's using way less power and maintaining lower heat temps, is water cooling the 1080 even worth it? My 590's full load on air would hit up to 90c untill i put them on water. I got it from newegg and is it worth sending it back to get the ti version and stay on air?
I strictly game now and dont benchmark so ocing the gpu isnt gonna be necessary for me. Thanks for any input!

Well I am gonna wait til EVGA released the GTX 1080 Ti Classified iCX and take one of those instead of all the others
Only I have no idea when a Classified model would be released, isn't that mostly 1 months after the launch of a new product, or much earlier?

My Upgrade path is from a 7 year old EVGA GTX 480 1.5GB to a current gen EVGA GTX 1080 Ti Classified iCX 11 GB... Should notice some differences

My upgrades are usually from "Classified" to another "Classified". I'm very happy with those cards.

I love the classifieds, but this will be the first time I get away from the custom pcb, and aim for a reference board. The benefit just isnt there since I have stopped overclocking on a daily basis, and the reference cards are equivalent to the classified almost all the time.

Reference PCB is guaranteed to be compatible with most of the waterblocks out there as well, meaning that if someone plans to change their video card regularly, reference PCB has a strong selling value.
In addition to this, custom PCB cards take quite a long time before they appear in shelves and even then, at the beginning they are out of stock and you need to wait and wait.

What about a Hybrid? I'm going either that or straight reference. I've always preferred the blower style. Maybe not the best and quietest but, adequate and predictable for the most part.

I have mildly considered the hybrid, briefly, but i enjoy full cooling and being able to actively see the coolant flowing.

Or you can buy founders edition and once EVGA makes hybrid cooler kit avaible, buy it and slap it onto a founders edition card.

Can anyone confirm that this card will be eligible for Step-Up?  I called EVGA and spoke to a rep, their lips are sealed like the Mines of Moria.  Couldn't even give me a ballpark price figure for it either.  I just bought a 1080 FTW a month ago, I'm about to step my ass up! Lol

Looking for a little advice on upgrading.

I am going to be upgrading my two 980 Ti's for the new 1080 Ti's that are coming out this month. However, I am unsure if I need to touch the rest of my system (or not).

My CPU and motherboard are several years old, but doesn't seem like anything significant has happened on that front, and I'm inclined to think that it would be a moot point in touching them, and that I would be better off waiting until 2018 to upgrade the CPU, motherboard, and RAM for when Coffee Lake comes out and there some shiny new 6-core CPUs to play with.

For reference what I use my workstation for:
  • Software Development (UE4 and Unity)
  • Image Processing
  • Gaming @ 4k (MMO's, ARPG's, FPS's)

Windows 10 - x64
Intel i7 3930k Sandy Bridge-E @ 4.20GHz
ASUS Rampage IV Formula
16 GB G.Skill Ripjaws 2133
2x EVGA GeForce 980 Ti : SLi
Samsung 840 EVO
70'' Vizio @ 2160x3840
3x 30" Dell @ 2560x1600
ASUS Xonar DG
Beyerdynamic MMX 300

Got the 1080 ftw hybrid about a month ago. Today is the last day I can put in for a return on amazon. Going to return and wait it out a bit longer. Doubt the 1080TI FTW Hybrid will be available in time before my stepup expired. About to throw the old 980 (non-TI) back in till then :(

FTW is useless and overpriced with this generation. You can also add the hybrid cooler on, easily, later.

Umm, yes and no. Over all you don't really need to upgrade the rest of the system. I mean you could and yes you would notice a difference on a couple games out there but all in all not a huge difference. If you are already thinking of waiting then I would. Well at least until the AMD Ryzen comes out officially, that could cause some Intel price drops, maybe.

I so very happy I *HAD to wait this long to buy a 10 series card.  I feel the system I currently have will be just fine with 1080 Ti

* 1080 was constantly sold out on release last year and then I had to go on several business trips....

Case Labs TH10, Rampage IV Extreme, Core i7 4930k @ 4.6ghz, 16gb Corsair Dominator GT @2133, 2x GTX 780Ti SC 3gb, Sound Blaster Zx, Corsair AX1200, Aquaero 5 Pro

Custom water cooling, dual loop, all acrylic tubing.
