Does anyone know which EVGA cards are compatible with the Alienware Grpahics Amp?  It looks like the FE, Ti Gaming, and all the SC variants will physically fit, but I have heard of people having issues with non-FE cards not working with some NVidia drivers and BIOS versions.  It sounds as if Alienware will only provide support if you're running the FE.  I would like to go with the SC Black or SC2, but not if compatibility is likely to be an issue.  If I buy one of these cards, will EVGA let me downgrade to a FE if there are issues?

It doesn't specify other brands GPU's, only reference.
If this was my last option of upgrading using an external GPU, I would go with a F.E. just to avoid losting any money.

I would assume that any ICX GPU would not work with the Amplifier, because of custom VBIOS and the sensors present in the card. Maybe any ACX cooler would work?

Well. At least is possible to fit a 1080 F.E. with Hybrid Kit. Very cool.

EVGA isn't responsible for compatibility in a proprietary piece of gear from Alienware, so I highly doubt that they would allow you to "downgrade."

Just buy from an authorised retailer that allows returns, like Amazon.

    Ok. That's too bad.

I would suggest that you seek advice and assistance on the dell/alienware forum. What do you think that we can do for you? All we can say is "does it work in a regular computer? yes? good.".

    Thanks, I think lol

I wasn't moaning about it, just pointing out that the 1080Ti SC doesn't seem to work in the AGA in case anyone else wants to get this card.

I have tested it in a normal PC ands its fine.

I put a 1080ti sc2 gaming hybrid in my alienware graphics amplifier. Worked great!!!
I  even cut a window out in it and put a rgb strip so i could view the glorious Powerhouse

This is how everything fit. I did change out the included fan with a noctua and also changed out the power supply for one that the fan stays off till certain temperature.

    That looks great!

My card works, but I get terrible performance that gets lower & lower. Games start off smooth as butter at locked 60 fps, but then the fps start to drop till like 5-6fps, card at 99% utilization!!??

I assumed as it was a non standard VBIOS that its incompatible with the AGA?

Sounds like your cpu may be overheating.

It was litterally plug and play for me aside from uninstalling laptop gpu drivers and installing 1080ti drivers.   Just make sure you have the latest bios for your laptop, download and install the alienware graphics amplifier drivers.
