AMD nudges FreeSync into the living room on select Samsung QLED TV models

AMD today announced it's hitching a ride to the living room by partnering with Samsung to support FreeSync on a bunch of QLED TVs. AMD's graphics hardware is found in Microsoft's Xbox One S and Xbox One X consoles, both of which gained FreeSync support last month. So you can see that this will allow living room gamers to have an even better gaming experience.

    The console framerates aren't varying to a degree where that type of technology would even be noticed, and let's say freesync did kick in because the framerate was sub 30 or sub 60, it's still not as smooth as the Gsync alternative which does a better job in that range. This is basically snake oil for console gaming.

    Well from my understanding the software is provided free so AMD is not making any money off of it and apparently OEMs believe in it.

    hmm, wonder if it'll come to my 2017 model QLED Samsung? I don't think the tech between those two years is all that different, so it may be possible
    But then again I don't have a playstation or Xbox, and Nvidia doesn't seem to way to play with it, so guess it doesn't really matter for me atm.

    AMD needs a competitive GPU, They have not fully given it, yes it does DX12 well but once its out of that realm, or it has something special in the game their gpu's tank. Part of that is thanks to nvidia but they really need something with some muscle.
