The 8-core Ryzen 7 5800X3D was released in April last year with a price of $449. I took another five months for AMD to lower the price for this first desktop CPU with 3D V-Cache below $400. The price has been going down since then, but only in June of this year did it finally drop below $300.
Amazon currently lists the 5800X3D at $291, and nearly the same price can now be found on retailers like B&H Photo Video. Other retailers like Newegg offer coupon codes that can lower the price below $300 mark. Only one MicroCenter offers the CPU for less than $280, but the such offer is only for in-store pickup.
AMD Ryzen 7 5800X3D offers:
The 5800X3D features 64MB of 3D V-Cache, and it is the only CPU with such technology on the AM4 platform. The successor called Ryzen 7 7800X3D based on Zen4 microarchitecture is currently available for $406. However, the upgrade cost must also include a newer AM5 motherboard and DDR5 memory. This is not the case with 5800X3D which works with nearly all AM4 motherboards on the market.

If you need an AM4 gaming CPU this is a great deal.

The price is definitely right for purchase. I'm still 5-series myself.
