Maybe they should. I would like to see their quality and warranty brought to the red side as well.

seth89 The infinity Cache and the direct memory access are game changers same way infinity fabric was on Zen. Xbox and PS5 use this same direct memory cache system, so it safe to say all/most games will program for this feature. AMD will lock NVIDIA out of this feature on AMD CPUS.
You have a source for this by any chance?

seth89 Buy AMD shares while they're below $80 b/c the market took a 3% dive this week.
No joke. I picked up a bunch of shares at the beginning of Oct. when we started seeing Ryzen leaks. Really hoping they don't bot-bungle the launch of either series... Should see a really nice payday.

No sources... just looking at patterns. ( I was correct about Zen back in 2017) AMD pulled off a 54% gain over RDNA 1 with infinity cache. AMD dumped people from the ZEN team into the GPU department, this is their work. Xbox and PS5 GPU have direct access to storage memory. Most games being develop will be made for Xbox and PS5 that run this system. This same system is in the Ryzen 5000 series CPU. The ladder suggest this will be feature used in most games and wont be a gimmick like the PPU, early ray tracing, or AMD Ram Drives.

seth89 NVM the cards. This series of cards is what we saw with Zen in CPUs, an intro into new tech. Give it 2 years and these GPUs will be in the same place that AMD is with Intel but with NVIDIA. The infinity Cache and the direct memory access are game changers same way infinity fabric was on Zen. Xbox and PS5 use this same direct memory cache system, so it safe to say all/most games will program for this feature. AMD will lock NVIDIA out of this feature on AMD CPUS. IMO this is all very exciting. Buy AMD shares while they're below $80 b/c the market took a 3% dive this week.
I really do hope you are right, that they can both match nvidia's cadence and continue to pull impressive gains each round. Im not really holding my breath for the next gen after this. Im just gonna take the 6900 as a complete win! I do believe with Nvidia being a complete fiasco this round, if third party reviews confirm the benches AMD showed today, and they actually are available for more than 0 seconds, I think Ill swap from looking for a 3090 to a 6900. Be cool to run an all AMD rig again. (At least until the driver issues start)

EVGA has made it pretty clear they aren't interested in any more money from AMD products. Plus nvidia's vindictive past would probably rear it ugly head again and EVGA would be cut off if they started selling AMD Graphics. Anyone recall the XFX story around the time nvidia had to keep delaying fermi for yield and leakage issues? What you might be able to root for is IF intel drops a competitive dedicated GPU, EVGA's existing intel relationship might mean they sell Intel GPUs. I do think a 6900 kingpin edition would be an interesting sight.

I would think that Microsoft would have control over this with DirectX. Why would Microsoft make software that keeps the Xbox brand tied to AMD?

I don't think the memory sharing is a DirectX factor. When the CPU needs more memory it just pulls it, the API doesn't care how the hardware gets the resources. Also Xbox and PS5 are here for awhile. One X was released in 2017, series X was started in 2013. These system seem to have a life of 7-10 years at a time, so being tied to AMD is just for the life cycle of the system. Also Microsoft and AMD have a really tight relationship now. Smart access memory is a clever trick at the moment, but with Xbox, PS5, and now AMD based gaming computers ( 5000 series) all having this feature the game devs working on AAA titles will 100% want to take advantage of it. This feature with infinity cache will be a paradigm shift IMO.

Because that's who they've had a hardware partnership with for 3 generations of consoles now and AMD may have stipulated it in their contract???

kevinc313 Who is willing to give AMD $999 for a GPU? I've got a bridge to sell ya.
Even if the 3090 was marginally better in a majority of games... it went from a bad buy to an really bad buy. Which is probably why 10% of customer backorders for 3090's were canceled today at Proshop. >195 people canceled their 3080 orders as well, but that was only around ~5% of their backorders. This was an amazingly strong showing from AMD, almost nobody expected hardware better than a 3080 and certainly nobody expected it at a lower power budget. NVIDIA is lucky its Minecraft raytracing stuff is proprietary... Great to see AMD back in the game. I wish I knew what Intel thought of that launch... AMD and NVIDIA both probably just left whatever they were planning to launch next year in the dust.
Have water, will cool.

T hose who abuse power, are nothing but scumbags! The challenge of power is how to use it and not abuse it. The abuse of power that seems to create the most unhappiness is when a person uses personal power to get ahead without regards to the welfare of others, people are obsessed with it. You can take a nice person and turn them into a slob, into an insane being, craving power, destroying anything that stands in their way. Affiliate Code: 3T15O1S07G
