Hey all,
I have recently had a close encounter with my GPU (I always suspected it was plotting to try and kill me). I was going through some problem solving as my mobo was 'acting up' (unusual boot process) and while planning to do a physical check of the mobo and re-seating some cables I noticed something strange lying by the lower RGB headers/Fan headers and front panel connectors, on closer inspection I realised what it was (see pic). Yes, the metal badge had fall off the GPU and caused mysterious problems with my mobo boot procedure. My mobo (maximus xi code) is mostly covered by plastic and (hopefully) has not sustained any lasting damage (still need to manually go through all ports on mobo and confirm they are ok and do a bit more investigating to be sure). I would urge everyone (with metal badges on their GPU) to double check or remove them. I would also make a recommendation to EVGA to look into this with any current/future developments, if you do not hear from me again then assume my GPU has succeeded in killing me and disposing of my body.

Hope you are all enjoying the holidays.

Regards
Iain

You could ask EVGA to supply you with the sticky stuff to install it back on the GPU if you'd like.  It's worth a shot.  I don't think this badge is trying to kill you nor your MB. lol

Use this Associate Code at your checkouts or follow these instructions for Up to 10% OFF on all your EVGA purchases:

Funny post, lol'd.

I'd mask everything off then superglue it back on.  Carefully apply a layer of clear packing tape over it just to be sure.

Hmm. I guess the glue they used softens up again above a certain temperature. Super glue will fix that. Thanks for the heads up.

EVGA 2080 Super Hybrid XC. Halfway from peeling off completely last weekend. Pushed it back in place. No biggie.

I think you are missing the point. The issue isn't the badge falling off, the issue is the METAL badge falling off and potentially shorting parts of your motherboard (which could damage some or all of your PC hardware). So yeah....potential 'biggie'.

I have 2 AIO loops running in my nano-case rig, assemble and disassemble parts on a weekly basis, tinker around with custom sleeving without being too good at it, and recently introduced a good amount of metal shavings in the case while cutting it with a dremel. All of those activity have a higher risk of shorting out my motherboard than a rouge metal plate from the graphics card which will most likely fall downwards onto the case floor. I suppose it's a biggie to you, but not for me. Peace.
