First time poster, go easy on me.

Lets try to make this short, I installed the left 4 dead 2 demo, and my pc crashed before I could get into a map. Figured "Oh, i must not have an updated video driver!" So I throw in the EVGA disc and install the driver. Restart the computer only to come up with a BSOB reading 0x00000018. I restart the computer with startup recovery, it finds nothing to fix. So I restart again, with a BSOD reading 0x0000007E. Startup recovery goes again, finds nothing.

So I figure its time to go to safe mode right? Wrong says my pc, when trying to bring up the startup options with f8 the screen goes blank, as to have no video input. So after 20 minutes of crap I re-partition the hard drive.

Odd thing is, games like CS:S, Team Fortress 2, and Wow all worked fine without the driver.

Anyone have any idea what happened? And any tips on how to avoid problems like that in the future?

Specs:
Windows 7 Ultimate 32bit
AMD Phenom II 3.2 Ghz
Asus M4A79XTD EVO
EVGA 9800GTX+
WD Caviar 750Gb
OCZ Obsidian DDR3
AZZA Dynamo 850W

The EVGA disc isn't exactly the most up to date driver. Usually, it's the one released at the time that the card was originally made. My disc has the 180 something drivers on there back from early this year. The best place to go is the Nvidia drivers page for your most up to date ones. So try this: http://www.nvidia.com/obj...32bit_195.62_whql.html

    i7-4770K @ 4.0 / Gigabyte Z87X-UD4H / 8GB DDR3-1600 G.SKILL Ripjaws X
EVGA GTX 780 Ti SC / Silverstone Strider Plus 1000W
Corsair H110 / CM Storm Stryker
CM Storm Trigger / CM Sentinel Advanced
    ---
    AMD Sempron 145 / ECS A990FXM-A / 8GB DDR3-1600 G.SKILL Ripjaws X
    (3) ASUS R9-280X DirectCUII / EVGA SuperNOVA 1000P2
    Red Milk Crate

    Epiphone Sheraton R62 / Vox AC15C1

use EVGA precision. check your temperature on the card.

CPUID.com, d/l, hwmonitor. check your temps of everything there.

pull out the cmos battery, reset your bios.

run a few instances of this program. test the ram out. let it run for a few hours.

make sure updates aren't on automatic, could be writing over your drivers.

Yeah, get the latest driver from NVIDIA that applies to you here: http://www.nvidia.com/Download/index.aspx?lang=en-us

The driver off the orig. disc is way outdated/wrong for Win7.

    Uninstall Precision.

Read this, I know it's for XP and Vista, I dunno about Win7, but it's probably basically the same..Always run Driver Sweeper, it works for Win7: http://forums.evga.comarchive/tm.asp?m=396474

    Reinstall Precision when yer done.

The 195 Driver from Nvidia fixed all my crashing problems and now the Precision tool works as well.

    Thanks Everyone!

    Hello there,
    I have PNY 9800 GTX+ 512MB as well,
just can not install Win 7 32 bit with that card...
I tried latest and even beta drivers, but it is still same...
After first boot of windows is goin just in to grey screen...
There is probably some problem with drivers...
It is working just if I turn it on with old 7800 GT, then delete drivers, turn off, then put 9800  back ... but after reboot it is same... grey screen...

    any kind of help?

    cheers pal..
