Hard pass at that price. Amazon is losing its mind. They have a Samsung 980 Pro 2tb listed as “51% off” even though they are listing the “list price of $379 reduced 51% to $179” when Best Buy lists the same model number 980 Pro 2tb for $279 reduced to $189”. Amazon is flat out lying about list prices and jacking up prices for the holidays.

They can keep their overpriced items.

The price is fair imo because…

#1 It’s a brand new kingpin card with the original box and accessories.
#2 You’ll be getting a card that hasn’t been used and abused.
#3 EVGA no longer makes video cards, so this is a good opportunity for anyone to buy a piece of evga history.

Amazon isn’t setting the price on the cards. The cards are listed on the evga amazon store, so evga is setting the price here, but clearly the cards are in stock at amazons warehouse, so they won’t be shipped directly from evga.

For being sold from evga store, does it still get warranty "as if" brand new back in the time?

Should get a full 3 year warranty. I’m very surprised they are selling them as you think they would still be using them for rma.

Sold by Amazon, Shipped by Amazon. That isn’t set by EVGA, that is set by Amazon.

Even when scalpers were able to list their cards on Amazon, before they were blocked, they would show on the EVGA store. The brand shows on EVGA store, even when it isn’t set by evga.

Perfect example, go to the evga store, click the 3070ti that is listed for $845, sold and shipped by someone not Amazon or EVGA, and evga doesn’t set the price. Amazon bundled the brand name, nothing to do with the brand linking to the brand themselves.

While interesting from a collector's standpoint, I don't think many people will be willing to part with $800 for a 8 year old card. It's not really old enough to be considered a "collectors item" and not nearly worth the price to play any modern games on. So in my opinion it's in a weird no mans land of irrelevance/obsolescence. Maybe in another 10 years it'll fetch that asking price......

I actually just got done playing with one of these.

With evga not making gpu's anymore, and not being able to get a 4090 KP because of that, I said forget it I'll just buy an older one to play with. The card is absolutely stunning to look at. It's a great collectors piece for sure. I'm glad I actually bought it as I was feeling a little guilty not owning a EVGA gpu anymore after I sold off both my 3090 Ti FTW3's. I won't be selling this 980 ti KP as I plan to keep it forever as a memento.

    Stock: https://www.3dmark.com/fs/28906965
    OC'd: https://www.3dmark.com/fs/28908263

$785 was a deal as I received a gpu with 81.4% ASIC quality which evga was selling for $1049 back then... https://www.evga.com/articles/archive/00944/evga-geforce-gtx-980-ti-kingpin/default.asp

1520/2079 on normal vbios with stock max allowed volts of 1.212.

Nvidia is forcing 980 ti users to use 1.212mv all the time on the latest drivers... https://www.reddit.com/r/overclocking/comments/wbjx8l/i_can_no_longer_change_core_voltage_on_my_card/

I wasn't able to adjust my voltage slider either, so I ended up using the classified tool to figure out what nvidia was doing, and they are making all 980 ti users use max volts 24/7.

Guess they want users to upgrade.

Yes, I still have my gigabyte 4090. I was just playing with the new KP.

Had to send the KP back for a refund.

    Reasons why…

#1 Fans would randomly spin down/up after being commanded to run at 100% static speed.
#2 No 120hz, or HDR via DP.
#3 Card won’t boot on z690 dark kingpin after fresh driver install without having my 4090 installed first.
#4 The major 980 ti kp flaw that really made me send it back for a refund instead of just getting a replacement from amazon. I’ll let the videos do the talking…

Well I ended up keeping the kp card just because I’m such an evga fan, and like the look of the 980 ti kp. Actually have two now, so I can use sli on evga’s last sli motherboard to support sli which is the z690 dark kp.

I was actually able to workaround some of the above issues I listed in post #4.

#1 Fixed the fan issue with a newer vbios that came on the second card. Simply flashed the older card with the second cards newer vbios. No more issues with the fan.
#2 Use hdmi to do 60hz with hdr.
#3 Turns out that the 3rd issue was fixed by using the hdmi input instead dp. Very odd.
#4 Jury still out on this one. Guess we will see if I ever have an issue with the APL1117’s.

Been awhile since I had two cards in sli. All the kp hardware looks awesome on my bench. 😁

So does EVGA honor the 3 year warranty since it's new from an authorized dealer?

I used to have two 980 KINGPINs, kinda wish I kept them.

I would assume so, but with evga out of the gpu business I wouldn’t expect to get a 980 ti kp back if one fails on you.

    980 KINGPIN is $759 (2 in stock)

I will watch these to see if price comes down a bit. Could you run timespy as well in SLI?

I do love the look of that 980 Ti Kingpin... The pure copper block, matte black finish, and glowing blue LED... definitely a beautiful card. But back in the day I ended up getting two Zotac 980 Ti AMP Extreme Edition and running them in SLI for Witcher 3, which was specifically benched with the Zotac's in mind. Still an amazing rig in SLI. I'd be curious how the 980 Ti Kingpin in SLI compare against the Zotac 980 Ti AMP Extreme Editions. The crazy thing is you can get a 980 Ti used on eBay for less than $200 now. I'll probably be getting a Zotac 4090 Ti Amp Extreme if they make it, sad to know that it's possible EVGA won't be doing a 4090 Ti KPE release.

Yes, I still have my gigabyte 4090. I was just playing with the new KP.

This is really unacceptable. It would be nice if EVGA, ASUS, MSI, Gigabyte, Zotac and others would pressure NVIDIA to correct whatever mistake (or deliberate act) was performed on newer drivers so that owners of these older GPUs can still use them as intended. I think it is really messed up that NVIDIA has done this and I think it reflects negatively on their character as a company. If we allow them to get away with this kind of shenanigan, Pascal, Turing and Ampere will follow with similar debilitating monkey business.

@EVGATech_LeeM - do you think anyone at EVGA would have some pull on this?

Edit: is there a way to tag users in this forum? It never seems to work whenever I have tried.

Best bet is probably to PM the user you want to tag. I don’t think the forum software actually tags the user.

Now to find another for SLI lol

I am on Win 7 right now and voltage works fine on latest driver (474.11) but will try Windows 11 next since now I can use DX12 vs previous GPU
