only reason i went with the 590's is less power consumption. and benchmark testing on most sites i dont trust to much. i look at mods rigs and look and see what other people benchmarked. that to me is real world results.

yeah I understand, but that will show you the same thing. two 580s always beats the 590........they also cost more, too, so it should be that way.

I'm sure not going to worry about it. When the card arrives it will be interesting to see how it performs. If I need more horse power (doubtful) then I'll get another one and SLI it... Hmmm... A 580 Classified costs $569.99. A 590 Classified costs me $749.99. If I have to purchase 2 580's to out perform the 590 is it really less expensive... I live my life in confustion.

Too many problem with a 590? I didn't have even one. 3 gb on a graphics card is absolutely ridiculous and useless. By the time games will actually require more than 1,5GB at normal resolutions (1080 and below), a 580 is going to be useless (not enough horsepower to run the game). keep in mind that when a game has HD textures you not only need high Vram but also a high end GPU. Whats more, now 3 GB are so useless that in many comparisons you will notice a decrease in performance in some games at 1080 in comparison to its 1,5 GB version. Also in a couple of months the 7970/680 will put to shame your 580. So if you can, get a 590; at least a 590 is faster than a 7970. Or spend more money on a PSU and GPC and get another 580. But 2 580's inside your case will: * Get very hot (more than a 590). ** Consume a lot of power, having higher taxes to pay at the end of the day. *** Feel like you have a gigantic turbine inside your PC for the noise both of them will make.

the gtx590 compare with gtx570 in sli due to the fact its been downclocked from gtx580 speeds. So the gtx590 performance wise is closer to gtx570 sli but with more vram, less watts (-80w approx idle), and smaller form factor.

Good Morning All! The 590 arrived yesterday and it's installed. Putting every aside for a moment, it's a well designed card. Classy. Ok... No tornadoes coming out of box, no meltdowns, just normal video card up and running. Tempertures are running around 40c at idle under Win7-64bit. Running 3dMark11 advanced performance (1280x720) test gives me a score of P8939, for what that's worth. I'm running an Intel I7 Extreme 975 processor that was not overclocked for this test. Neither was the 590. Temperture ran around 63c during the benchmarking. I'll do the extreme performance later. I know there will always be something faster and better out there. Just a matter of time. I know I'm always in the upgrade business. I'm debating on upgrading my cpu to an I7 Extreme 990. My cpu is 4 core, the 990 is 6. Decisions, decisions! Well... Talk to you'all later. Jeff
