While gaming and benchmarking I noticed the max power draw for my card has peaked at 465watts. I was under the impression it should be using up to 480watts?
I'm running a +125/+850 overlock, voltage and power sliders are set to max in X1, 850watt PSU. Any ideas why I'm not pulling more watts?

I'd use a 1200watt min. Realky I'd feel more at ease with a 1600watt psu and forgetaboutit.

My 3090 ftw3 ultra usually will max at 450watts using their 500 watt xoc bios. Throws up power limit from 424watts and on.. solid.
You make sure your on the OC bios? And not the normal bios if theirs a switch?
When your system starts blue screening and randomly rebooting.. think bigger psu. May not be today but maybe months or a year from now with that psu runing full tild majority of the time.

You're fine with a 850w PSU if it's a decent one. I've hammered my RM850x with the Galax 1kw bios pulling 600w+ on my 3080ti with no issues.

That's true. I have AMD cpus in both machines which pull less power. Is your cpu power draw that much higher in gaming though? I saw a test somewhere (forget which) recently that only showed a small difference in gaming power draw between AMD and 12th gen.

What are the rest of your system specs? Are you playing games with a 4k monitor max setting on games or playing at 1440 resolution with max settings? Are you gonna play Kombustor all of the time to get the max power from your 3090Ti card all of the time?

yes in gaming situations it is probably only at 60% utilization and probably only pulling 150-179w , Cinebench its 320w to get that score in the low to mid 29 K and still safe to game. and really as far as that goes I could pimp it out more knowing I'm not close to TJ max but getting ejected from a race is costly in points.

Appreciate all the help guys, this was solved. I didn't realize that some games will not pull the max 480watts. I installed Kumbustor as previously suggested and saw a 475watt power draw.

People always cheap out on the psu.. always. Like I bet most of the posts on here are because of old cheap psu's.
2k+ gpu and a Buck 50 psu.. yeah let's rock!
I've blown $1100 on my motherboard, $500 on the cpu, $2k on the gpu and $500 on the ram $600 on the drives and prob 2k+ on the water cooling and I still 2nd guess my 4 year old evga 1300watt G2 PSU.
Missed the dang last psu sale by minutes for a bad @aa 1600watt psu.. not for the wattage per say but for the quality.

As a rule of thumb you should size your PSU so that under maximum load, you never exceed 80% of its rated continuous output on the 12v rail. As a personal thing, I don't have that much sympathy for ITX case users with power hungry components.  9 times out of ten, they are losing significant performance just because of being unable to control thermals.

Also, BFV will max you out while loading the next map. If you have speedy SSDs, it won't do it for very long, but you'll still be drawing 90+% power from your GPU and 100% max your CPU for that map load. It was quite handy to find out if my temperatures were stable with my overclocks actually. First map gets a good heat-soak going, then you start loading the next map (while GPU is still rendering stuff) and your CPU pegs to 100%...here come the temperatures.

Nope, 1440p. The GPU power % does usually fluctuate in that game (and most). I was mainly referring to the CPU going to 100%. The GPU stays heavily loaded in that time, the 80-95% number you gave lines up with what I've seen. I think I have seen it go to 99% while actually playing, but at that point my CPU has dropped to about 40%. It's just the map-loading part where the game is still rendering scenes on the screen where you're GPU is fairly heavily loaded still and your CPU cranks up full speed. My settings are 1440p, everything on Ultra, DX12, all RT on high, DLSS off (I think they may have disabled it because it was completely broken), and I turn one of the terrain settings to medium because that exposes snipers that think they're hiding in bushes. Also, I turn off motion blur, lens flare, chromatic aberration, and vignette. Also, 2042, while I haven't touched it in months...because...well 2042...anyway it doesn't use all of any of my hardware. I can never get it to use more than ~70-80% of my GPU power limit and 30-45% of my CPU. Nothing I change gets me more FPS in that game. It just makes my GPU load go down even farther. What CPU do you have? BF has generally been one of those engines where it only uses so many threads (I think BFV can use 8?), but it wants the CPU cores those threads are on to be really fast in order to feed the GPU more data. Of course, this is pre-2042...no idea what that game is trying to do. It is extremely poorly optimized. Anyway, in BFV, the 3090ti might be powerful enough to chew through everything you try and send to it with any CPU that currently exists unless you're at 4k...so because the game is CPU-thread limited, it can't send your GPU any more data.
