I just opened my new 3090 ftw and peeled the plastic wrap off. I noticed this area on the rgb logo that has what it looks like to be more of the plastic wrap but I'm not sure if it's that or there is some coating on that area that isn't supposed to be removed. This is how it looked right after I peeled the plastic wrap off. Suggestions?

Three more posts (10 total) before you can post links. Break up the link like: website .com/image to get it to post as a workaround.

Did you remove the clear cover that is usually over that badge? I have not been able to purchase a card yet, so I have not been able to look at them and see if there is an anti scratch plastic over the badge

Looks to me that some of the protective plastic got caught between the shroud and heatsink.

Its surprising you can't see exactly what that is, you have the card right there, but at closer look, it does seem like stack wrap between heat sink and logo.

Any ideas on how to remove it? It's definitely stuck under the shroud.

I noticed the same thing on my EVGA RTX 3090 FTW3 Ultra I just installed yesterday. I used needle nose pliers to pull that plastic off that was a bit stuck in the shroud. Although I don't think it would have hurt to leave it.

Yeah I might have to end up leaving a little bit. I've been trying to use my finger nails but I can't seem to get the last little bit off. Might have to take off the shroud to get that last little bit off...

My 3080 FTW 3 Ultra had some plastic wrap stuck in that manner.  Personally I just kept working at it with what fingernails I do have.  I tend to keep them short but anyway... it did eventually just come off.

Must be wrapped when they assemble?

Maybe I missed something here.  Why don't you just remove the shroud and get it off?  It's quite easy and doesn't affect anything on the actual card.  If you want a video on how it's done, Steve at Gamers Nexus shows the teardown.

Obviously I could just take the shroud off. I was just trying to not have to do that. Already taken me too long putting together this new build cause all the rgb cable management lol. I just wanted to open the new card and not have to deal with extra stuff like plastic wrap. I'm just thankful for the que system and having this card so I shouldn't complain. EVGA is the best! Except there plastic wrapper. That could use some tweaking😂

Understandable.  Have you tried using a toothpick?  Least likely thing to scratch the surface and might be able to get into the tight spot to pull the shrink wrap off.

I will try that. I got most of it off with my fingernail. I put it in the pc now until I order some custom cables and have to take it back out and then I'll mess with it more. I gotta test 4k 120hz hdr 444!! Hopefully my cable works...
